"Oh Bondage Up Yours!"?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Judging from the videos - "don't call us lads - we'll call you" - Suede came and went. Left no impression whatsoever. Our version puts 'em all into Divison 2. The Bunnymen wrote it and performed it - numero uno, numer one spot - but I think we do a pretty good version and of the videos yet to be shown - it has yet to be beaten - so as the Elctric Chairs song goes - "if you don't wannna ---- me baby, baby, baby, baby - you know the rest..............

ooh... I smell a Battle of the Covers Bands coming up!

By the way, they were Suedehead (from the Morrissey song), not Suede (the Brett Anderson/Bernard Butler act).

To cover Suede, one's tribute band must be full of humorless douchebags who spend entirely too much time up their own asses. I'd recommend starting with "Metal Mickey".

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the Gods Will Be Gods section?

I'm finding it to be extremely boring, and very upsetting. Porcupine is a very fine album.

And if you want to do a cover version of a Bunnymen song, you should start with Lips Like Sugar.

Agreed. Really isn't about the Bunnymen, is it? Even when it was on topic.

By the way, how can something be both extremely boring and very upsetting at the same time?

Your version puts them all in division 2?

Let me show you a few that kick your ass

This rockabilly version beats yours:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/d6mJR7r9VUU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/d6mJR7r9VUU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This Aussie couple at their Christmas party beat yours:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=4549166612816998696&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=4549166612816998696&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Subway Riders also smoke you. Sort of Bunnymen meets Icicle Works:

<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="movie" value="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=45702557,t=1,mt=video"><embed src="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=45702557,t=1,mt=video" width="425" height="360" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object>

Then there's the hot Aussie chick, Emma. She may not rock., but she's a foxy mama.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/h5iKWGkqd_M&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/h5iKWGkqd_M&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I wouldn't have said Nouvelle Vague kicked your ass, until some kid used it as a soundtrack on his skate video. Now it kicks your ass.

DJM wrote:Hmmmm.....interesting choices - let me give 'em a listen - been a while since i played them. As for the South Coast - I just need that one off lottery win to fund it! We play Rescue, Killing Moon and Seven Seas currently and we've been looking for more - less obvious Bunnymen songs to cover that works with Vocals/Bass/Drums/Guitar. That format probably works best for the first album - I dunno we'll see. Song suggestions always welcome though.........

A lottery win to get to the South coast of England? Where do you live-Australia?
As for the idea that people will only pay to see the hits, that might be true in the case of a sane band like U2, but the Bunnymen keep all their best work secret, whilst promoting their most mediocre work. In my opinion there really is a market for an alternative take on the Bunnymen.
P.S. throw in a few Chameleons songs into the bargain.
As for the lottery win I'll see what I can do over the bank holiday.

I'm teaching my cat to meow "The Killing Moon". So far it's kicking serious ass. Youtube video should be up soon--fingers crossed.
