MuseBox hints at 2009 extensive world tour

Postby archivistmgc » Fri Mar 06, 2009 8:55 pm

This was posted on a Yahoo group for sxsw, though when I went to the MuseBox website, I didn't find this particular article. Anyway, the third paragraph ends with mention of an extensive world tour...

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN HEADLINES THE
MUSEBOX’S EVENTS AT SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST 2009
New York, NY, March 5 -- The MuseBox is impacting on South By
Southwest 2009 in a big way. This year the acclaimed music
marketing firm presents two showcases – Thursday afternoon
March 19th and Saturday night March 21th – at
The Rusty Spurs, 405 East 7th Street (between Trinity Street and
Neches Street.)

The events will feature an array of some of the most significant
and acclaimed artists from The MuseBox family which includes
The High Dials, Inward Eye, Juliette Commagére,
Hey Ocean!, The Homosexuals, The
D’Urbervilles and Wintersleep.

And in what will thoroughly excite SXSW veterans and newbies is
the triumphant return of post-punk gods Echo & The Bunnymen, who
will headline the Saturday showcase, making it a
‘must-attend’ event of the conference. The
legendary band is using the conference as the jumping-off point
for a busy schedule in 2009 and beyond where they will release
their long-awaited 10th studio album The Fountain and
hit the road for extensive world touring in support of it.

Now I see, it was an email. You can sign up for the MuseBox mailing list. They say they are a marketing company and EatB are listed in their roster of bands. It will be interesting to see what they do for them.

They are/were represented by William Morris. Would the MuseBox representation be in addition to WMA? I never bothered to understand how all this stuff works.

Not half as far off as it would have sounded had you read it in 2007 when the album was finished.

I will bet anybody $100 by the end of 2008 Echo & The Bunnymen will have had a top ten UK single hit & a top 20 USA album.

The greatest ever gaff of all time? Predicting the album release by end 2008 was bad enough, along with a top ten single in the UK charts, but top 20 in the US!! God I wish I'd upped the stakes and bet everything I have on that one. I'd own the Bunnymen by now.

We coulda bet our retirements on that one. Stock, real estate? No way put it all against Peter.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Yeah but owning the Bunnymen would have been ideal. I could have given them direct orders to change their setlist, write and produce their next album (on time) that sounds a bit more like the Bunnymen circa pre-1984, get Mac to give up the fags and get some voice coaching, and get Will on a fortnight diet plan. A harsh but necessary regime. If they failed to obey their master and owner, I'd throw them to the alligators.

It would be like in Kill Bill when Uma Thurman trained with that old Chinese dude with the long white mustache.

Only Bill Drummond would be up to such a task. His KLF project showed just what a powerful imagination he has.

Musebox is reputable, to my understanding.

In a weird bit of symmetry - Musebox recently hired another early 80s luminary:

Strange... didn't make the connection when I got the Musebox mail to the REST of the touring intentions. Same setlist or not, I'd still love to see the band again... we'll see. I'll be stunned if we get any more than the alread-announced shows in 2009 at this rate...
