It is, but that's still stealing! So, I'm not sure what the hell that means, and who cares. Why are people comparing U2 with the Bunnymen and Joy Division? I mean, is someone going to tell me that U2 is in the same league as those 2 bands? If so, I'm sorry but I can't take your opinion seriously after that.

After hearing most of U2's songs I forget 5 minutes later that I ever heard it in the first place. They have some good songs, but few and far between. Most of their stuff is lame, watered down, forgettable crap.

Also, why is Peter Hook bitter? Because he was in a truly legendary band that still is worshipped by tons of people? Because he was in New Order who were successful and had some hits? Because he's considered a great and innovative bassist? If the only thing he cares about is monetary success, then I guess that would be the reason? Although, I would think he's made a nice chunk of change over the years.

Hooky is bitter over the NO split. He hated the last album, which Spooky aside was shite and doesnt get on with Barney 'dad dancing gone mad' Sumner anymore. One of the best band ever up to 1990 though.

The thing this analogy needs is the fact the car had a sign on it that said "free to a good home". Then U2 drove it away and won like 100 races with it while the previous owner collected a little insurance money.

Huh, I've never viewed U2 as a contemporary of Joy Division. Their music isn't anything alike as far as I can tell. It's weird, I've never read any articles comparing the two, either, maybe I missed them. I guess you learn something every day, though, if other people think that.

With the Bunnymen at least you have some more similarities (although not that many, in my book) and of course you have people comparing these 2 bands ad nauseam.

It's not really a matter of opinion, just a statement of fact. "contemporary: happening, existing, living, or coming into being during the same period of time"

OK, and that's why people should or would want to compare the two? Well, if that's the case then why don't more people compare other bands that were around at the same time? Why don't people compare The Strokes with Lil Wayne? I mean, they are contemporaries, technically. Maybe it's because they sound nothing alike.
