Lily always had charm and talent, but this is more edgy and deep. Unlike Kylie she has the depth to become a "serious" performer-she could get even better.

I also like lady Ga-Ga. I suppose women singer-songwriters are finally getting the credibility they deserve.

I used to think that young women were too giggly to sing anything with enough angst and seriousness to interest me, but have found this to be wrong-these ladies are on my list of female singers that kick ass, and I must see them live.

St Etienne were one of the few good things in the early 90's, so don't knock them. I am not claiming she is on the stratospheric level of the Bunnymen or Siouxie and the Banshees, just quite good, and getting better, by the dismal standards of the new millennium. And there are a handful of contemporary female singers who just might reach that level with a bit of work.

I quite liked some of St. Entienne's stuff so it's not really a knock. But, sorry, I can't get Lily Allen. Just sounds and looks to me like a 6th form posh tottie doing karaoke in a mockney accent to an early 1990s backing track.
