Official Emails

Postby withahip » Mon Feb 02, 2009 2:47 pm

Knowing an email is going to "thousands," would you take a few seconds and proofread? With a terrible record of sending out typos, maybe even have someone proofread the emails before you send them out?

It is with great pleasure that we can bring you ticket details for Ian
McCullochs solo shows at Zeligs in Liverpool on the 12TH March & 23RD
April. Tickets are a first come first served basics and can be
purchased in pearson from the venue or via the online in the news
section of Bunnymen.com

Please be warned that the ticket numbers are very limited.

More details can be found on the Bunnymen.com website.

Well, I've got three email addresses registered with Bunnymen.com, and NEVER receive emails from them.

Add to that, there's no information on the official site about these tickets anyway.

So, not for the first time I've heard information elsewhere. I don't know why I even bother checking on there for information.

you guys should be used to the typos by now, geez!

and the email was just sent less than an hour ago, so it's not like it's been out there for days. if you're not getting the email, write to Peter personally, because after they changed the website to a new server last time (or whatever it was they did) i stopped getting them too. i am finally getting them again, but i think that's coz they started the new mylist thingy a while back. being registered , and actually signing up for the mailings are two different things also....so make sure you are actually signed up on the mailing list. you have to do that in addition to registering on the site. (just trying to be helpful)

oh, and i *think* (i may be wrong) that the people on the mailing list get notified a little before the news goes up on the website. ....so there's another reason why some people are saying they haven't seen it anywhere 'officially' yet. Peter keeps telling people to sign up for the mailings, because it has its benefits.

ps--- it's on the news section....
pfft!

No. I'd like to see the Bunnymen get respect and having this sent out worldwide really makes it look like a slop operation.

The spelling errors have never offended me personally but withahip is right. It does give an unprofessional look to newsletters, emails and stuff. Believe me when our company sends out a newsletter (and we're some jack off little niche company) it's proof read by at least 5 people and the one time a typo did show up we had plenty of clients point it out. Some in good humor the most were dicks about it.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

It makes the Bunnymen look like a low-rent operation. That might be the case these days, but why advertise it? It doesn't take much to get somebody -- ANYBODY! -- with a basic grasp of English grammar -- and spellcheck -- to proofread the missives coming from Bunnymen HQ.

That's because Zeligs did it.

There's still a typo in it (missing comma) but at least all the words are spelled correctly and they used a nice photo.

Yeah, and I also got an email about a Will Sergeant show - but only the signature appears in the actual body of the mail.

The intimate songs of Ian McCulloch?

That's not the strangest of it all. Went to their website - http://www.zeligs.co.uk

They appear to be a English New York Italian-American restaurant. The front page namedrops Frank Sinatra...and Jackie Stallone. Yikes! Weirder - the imaginary proprietor of the restaurant - Leonard Zelig - is a fictional Jewish (not italian) character created by Woody Allen.

So it's English New York Jewish Italian-American.

Go wit yo' bad se'f

So for 45 pounds you can get a pizza with the show?

If you pay 15 pounds, no pizza for you!
