News from HQ

The Ocean Rain shows will now be the end of the year - September !

The band are concentrating on the release of "The Fountain" at the moment, which we should be making an announcement about pretty soon. We will be previewing tracks from The Fountain on the bands MySpace website very soon.

Tickets details for the solo Ian McCulloch gigs will be announced on Monday.

It's still not news though.

I wonder what "very soon" actually means? A few weeks, a few months?

Who knows with the official news from the Bunnymen's website. There doesn't seem to be a very close relationship between the website and the band/management, IMO.

It seems like actual news (like the name of the album, song titles, etc.) are leaked onto other websites and magazines first. I wouldn't be surprised if some new songs are on some radio show on BBC first. I'll gladly take it, though, if that's the case. It happened with the last album.

Everything on their actual website seems to be an afterthought unless they're trying to sell tickets to Ian's solo shows or merchandise.

Hmm... the album has been played on a Glaswegian radio station. One track on a Brazilian station, while Janice Long "showcased" Think I Need A Poo last year (or was it 2007) and was supposed to play more during an interview that Mac pulled out of. Given that, I was surprised that some tracks hadn't been put onto Myspace months ago. It seems to me that nobody has really been that bothered to want rush to the interweb and leak the tracks that have been played that you might get with bands more in the limelight.

The fountain? I'm guessing sometime around September aound the time of the next set of OR gigs, only to be pushed back until January of next year, then nothing ,then news that they will once again focus on it, then more festivals, ect followed by Heaven Up Here Gigs! Then we might get a re recorded version of Think I need it too as a single with b sides think i need it too instrumental, another live version of rescue , and think i need a poo alternative lyrics. Then The fountain will be finally released.

I never really post on here, but have really enjoyed reading some posts, WAY more exciting over here and I always get a good laugh. Too bad for the same set list year after year and Mac refusing to play guitar, my days of traveling anymore than 2 hours to a gig are over, I miss going to DC, and I'm guessing that's where I would meet several of you.

Welcome to VT beachbum. While we try to have fun here, watch out for Dr. Cheese. I believe he was Peter's would be assassin.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I may joke about the other board here - but it is my respect for the official board that I do not post any of the zany things there I do here.

Much love,

It sounds like they've gotten a record contract or some sort of funding for the album's release and subsequent tour.

I doubt the fans' whining for its release has anything to do with this decision. It will be nice to hear some of these "exclaimed" tracks for myself, even if it's through their myspace page.
