I always got the impression of a virtuoso player from Marr, but in a more conventional sense.

Like E&tB didn't have a guitar player at all-- they had a guy with a guitar with certain ideas about sounds and feeling pictures he wanted to paint, and he knew enough about the guitar to get close to it.
