What does Mack think of Moz?

Has Ian ever pubicly said what he thinks of Morrissey? What did he say? Do the two know each other? Do they get along?

From 2001:
"I think it was between us and New Order. They changed the face of music. They were more influential in affecting their chosen genre: dance music. I think we were both hard to imitate, while The Smiths spawned lots of copycat acts. You can jingle-jangle away and get away with it. But we were definitely up there. I used to say we were the best band ever, but that was only to wind people up. But I'd put us in the Top 30 since groups began."

Ok, so that was more about The Smiths than Morrissey. How about this one, while he was promoting Slideling:

"And Morrissey, that other erudite cunt. I had the displeasure of being co-interviewed with him and he mispronounced chasm."

I think he holds Morrissey up there with Boy George

I used to have that interview that Mac alludes to in that quote. I don't know if it was Melody Maker, might've been some other magazine. Mac actually said they should tour together in it since there wasn't any other good bands at the time and that it would be important or some crap.

Not surprised Mac doesn't like Morrissey. They're actually pretty different singers. Both have great stage presence and are both great singers, but totally different in every other aspect.

My impression is that Morissey's voice has held up pretty well. He also seems to like to perform.

I would dare say Morrissey's voice has gotten better with age.

Has his head also gotten larger? The guy has a noggin the size of a beer keg.

It is his growing forehead that makes it seem so. I have the same problem.

Those of us with northbound hairlines can sympathize.

They were actually interviewed together by No 1 magazine (a kinda Smash Hits Mag) in 84 or 85 if I remember correctly.... Much mutual respect and talk of a joint gig was spoken about........

Does he still sing "Miserable Lie"?

Not the two times I've seen him solo. But he is a charismatic performer if nothing else.
