So Auto-Tune turned Mac from Tom Waits into 1985 Mac?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Sorry. I think I was thinking about Marble Towers (It's Alright b-side), though listening to it now, it's just some funky effects.

Yeah - I think it is that Lil Wayne guy who is making a career out of that effect.

He should do that Peter Frampton guitar voice thing.

There is a time and place for all types of gimmicks I suppose but some artists like this use it on every song practically. Kanye West used it on his SNL appearance and the Auto-Tune couldn't even compensate for his tin ear. It was just awful and you could tell he was struggling to make it work by the way he kept backing off of the mic.

Maybe I'm just getting old. When distortion guitar and digital delay and things like that first came out I'll bet there were plenty of guitar purists who criticized it for being gimmicks. You can make plenty of mistakes with effects like that and no one really ever knows because it just get buried in the whole wash of sound.

I'm not defending it. And yeah - U2 gets really slagged for Dave Evans relying on pedals and only knowing two chords.
