singers who don't write lyrics

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

singers who don't write lyrics

For some reason recently I started thinking about all the bands that have singers who are not the predominant lyricists:

Rush (Neil Peart for Geddy Lee)
Oasis (Noel Ghallager for Liam)
Black Sabbath (Geezer Butler for Ozzy, I didn't know this until recently)
The Who (Pete Townsend for Daltrey)
Elton John (Bernie Taupin)

Elvis really didn't write lyrics but there were various songwrites for his stuff. Jim Morrison didn't write all the lyrics in The Doors. I know Robby Krieger wrote most of Light My Fire and it was Morrison who added the funeral pyre stuff.

I know I thought of more but that's what I came up with so far. Can anyone think of others?

Depeche Mode up until "Playing the Angel" though I am glad that Gahan is finally asserting himself a bit.

I was pretty suprised about the Ozzy thing too. I think his fame outweighs his contributions to Black Sabbath.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Bill Berry wrote A LOT of Stipe's lyrics. It becomes quite obvious when you listen to the music after he left the band. Actually, he has the same problem as Ian without a drummer that is an actual member of the band which is someone telling the singer sometimes less is more. And the phrases sound better when they synch with the drums.

I'm pretty sure that Mary Hansen did not write the French lyrics for Stereolab songs and she actually speaks no French. She just learns them phonetically from Lætitia Sadier.

Yup! Saw Stereolab a few weeks ago -- they were great.
