early 70's English Prog rock

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

early 70's English Prog rock

I've reformatted my iPod recently and added some stuff I had, but didn't listen to much or overlooked.

Usually when people think of Pink Floyd they think of The Wall or Dark Side or even the early Syd stuff but there was this whole period between Syd and Dark Side with albums like the Soundtrack from the Film More, Meddle, Atom Heart Mother, Obscured By Clouds. I'm really enjoying Atom Heart right now.

Likewise for Genesis. Many think of that pop period in the 80's but they have some fantastic albums like Selling England By The Pound and Foxtrot when Peter Gabriel was still in the band.

...any other fans?

I like side one of the Genesis album with the yellow blocks. Actually like Job To DO and Over the whatever Rainbow, too.

Nope
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I love Emerson, Lake and Palmer. They make Pink Floyd look like The Monkeys.

I love PF but are they really prog? The Wall may be a concept album but it aint prog (its got loads of very short songs for a start - no 23 min epics in sight). I wouldnt really call Dark Side prog either. Atom Heart Mother, Ummagumma and Meddle are the nearest they got to out and out prog. PF wrote concept albums with long musical passages - not necessarily prog. Just brilliant.

However I do like alot of English 70's prog rock...just not Genesis for some reason (or ELP). But I love Caravan, Camel, King Crimson.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

I was just trying to get you started. The only thing I hate more than Emerson, Lake and Palmer is the Kaiser Chiefs.

For prog rock with a modern twist check out Porcupine Tree - escpecially Fear Of A Blank Planet complete with 17 min track divided into suites (very prog!)

Never listened to prog. rock until the early nineties when Mr Kook made me listen.

Genesis w Peter Gabriel - yes.

Also like Gentle Giant and there's a Bunnymen connection - Ray Schulman.
They were brilliant!

Yes, on the other hand, bleuch!!!!!
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.
