Survivors (BBC 2008 version)

Anyone see Survivors last night?

Its a remake of the classic Terry Nation (him who created the Daleks) book and series from the 70's. I remember watching the original as a kid when my parents were out (they wouldnt let me watch it) and finding it very middle class and slow...but very creepy.

I thought the remake upped the pace, made it multi cultural (everyone in the original were white abc1 types) and worked hard to overcome BBC budget constraints. It didnt all ring true (it all happened so fast and where was all the evidence of looting etc?) but showed more than enough promise to keep me watching. I like the idea of an overeaching story arc that suggests the flu virus may be man made - but instead of the usual "oops - its a military experiment gone wrong" there seems to be some sinister purpose behind it and hinted that the virus was released delberately. Maybe.

That alone will keep me watching!

Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

My mate said one scene showed them breaking into a Netto store. Netto!! Surely Sainsbury's or M&S or even Aldi would be on the list before ****ing Netto!

Marks and Spencers Simply food would be my bet.Another BBC series suffering from a)a lack of budget and b)those two hammy actors from Bonekickers gurning for an hour every Tuesday again.A great idea in a series so bad its good.Questions:

1)Is that guy with the gun ever going to shoot anyone or just shout alot and rob the f*cking Netto as DC says?My nan is scarier.
2)The chap killing the old man lost all its gravitas
3)If the only way you could secure food in the new world was to offer sex or use violence I'd be bloody skinny very quickly
4)Is there only one retail park left in the whole country?

However some top bit of tit in it and nothing else on.Keep watching!
