Old Skool SoCal Punk Thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Speaking of SoCal Punk the band Offspring ripped off - I heard on on the radio tonight and forgot how amazing they are!

Raise your hand if you think the Repo Man soundtrack just plain kicked ass.

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I used to work with RJ Herrera (drummer from 1984 to 1991). Super cool dude. He said he left cause Muir was taking them in a more commercial direction and that management considered it Muir's band and he could overide any band decisions on his own.

It doesn't get any more old school than the Screamers:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z0-w0hUnhpI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z0-w0hUnhpI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And live at the Masque in L.A.:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iSRLINlMJvY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iSRLINlMJvY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I believe it. I don't know if it was commercial but he definitely went metal and left whatever you want to call the first album behind.

I also heard Muir re-recorded the first album in its entirety?

12. I came home from lacrosse practice - got on a bus in the burbs and ended up in the city without a ride home. I thought it was exciting at the time.

All the punk clubs were 21+ up here (Seattle's always been very provincial about all-ages shows). I missed seeing local punk legends like the Fastbacks, theFartz, the U-Men & 10-Minute Warning.
