Thirty years of SST

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

As a kid, we bought so much stuff solely because it was on the SST label. We bought a lot of garbage. But there were some gems.

I like how the author is telling everyone they should just bury the hatchet and make nice for no other reason than the label is 30 years old. I take it the author wasn't cheated out of money by SST.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

If the author were an American, writing for an American publication/site, I'm sure the article would've had more of a "Fuck Greg Ginn" tone to it.

Yeah - the author missed the boat on that one.

Look at Deborah Harry:

Blondie, the most commercially successful band to emerge from a fertile New York rock scene that also produced hall members Talking Heads and the Ramones, is back together after 15 dormant years.

But the group no longer includes former members Frank Infante and Nigel Harrison, who unsuccessfully sued to rejoin, and member Gary Valentine, also involved in another band dispute.

Those three members came onstage with the three members of Blondie who still perform -- Deborah Harry, Chris Stein and Clem Burke -- but were barely acknowledged by their former chums.

Infante begged to perform with the band.

"Debbie, are we allowed?" he pleaded before Blondie performed their hits "Heart of Glass," "Rapture" and "Call Me."

"Can't you see my band is up there?" Harry replied. The three rejected members walked offstage, but not before Infante groaned into the microphone.

It's a total travesty the way SST is currently run. The only new stuff Ginn puts out is his own solo crap that's pretty much worthless. It's safe to say the back catalogs of Black Flag, Minutemen, & Husker Du are the only thing keeping the business going. There's so much cool unreleased stuff that he could release too, but he's too lazy. Rollins says there are alot of outtakes from all the Black Flag sessions, and tons of live shows(some on video) by several of the classic bands. Then there's the classic albums that remain out of print like:

Saint Vitus - s/t & Hallows Victim
Saccharine Trust - Surviving You Always
Dicks - Kill From The Heart
Stains - s/t
Wurm

Thank God the Meat Puppets & Dinosaur Jr. got their catalogs back, and all of their albums got the reissue treatment.
