Nah. Being British is nothing to do with it. It's the Gene Hunt character -- it is Philip Glenister through and through. Shame he didn't want to do your version.

See, I thought Glenister was the worst thing about the show.

On the other hand, his new book looks like a hoot!

Were the 70s and 80s all they were cracked up to be? Or have we never had it so good? Philip takes a swig of Babycham, jumps on his space hopper, and heads off down memory lane to find out.

I take it then that with no liking Glenister, you didn't watch Ashes to Ashes.

I swear Curly Wurlys are smaller. Perhaps my hands are bigger. Didn't they used to cost 5p? A bag of half penny chews or cola bottles, a Curly Wurly and a bag of Ringos. Cost about 20p. They were the days.

I would love to see Ashes to Ashes. I don't have an opinion about Gleister the acotr, but rather the way he plays he character on Life. I think he does a great job - powerful - but there is this whiny quality (which makes sense seeing as he is probably losing his sanity) that was tiring by the end of the one episode in full I saw.

I think the American series is good so far. Here is what the problem will be - if it does well they will extend it and jump the shark beating it to death. What makes a show like this great to watch is that it is of a limited length. I don't know if this show was the exception in the UK or if you have the same problem that a good show goes on far too long stateside.

The Office (U.S.) is starting to get to be a bit beat.

I apologise. We call our country over here "Rip-off Britain", "Shit Britain", "Little Britain", "Crappy..." Maybe the "The Devils Pit" might be appropriate to keep in with the God's Country theme.

since they had to give away the unknown is it isn't it time travel a dream or maybe its both but is it really secret at the end of the second series LOM ashes to ashes twisted it a bit and went for more over the top comedy aspect. Mind you casting keeley hawes sporting an unnatural amount of tear-run black eyeliner, white mini skirts etc as the lead swung it for me. hasn't got the range of simm but, well who cares.
