Good news - it is getting good reviews. Bad news - it is 100% rip minus the culture jokes.

Still Harvey Keitel is in it.

Tonight on ABC.

So then we'll definitely see some penis then. Good old Harvey.

You'll have to tell me how it is. I don't know if I can bear to see that.

Well, the acting was great, except for Lisa Bonet. She still can't act. The cinematography was great! And the music. But reallly seemed like it could have been 30 minutes. Kind of like the Rockford Files. I don't know if the original was good in a good way or in a good but campy Dr. Who way.

Ok, I just watched some clips off of youtube of the Brit show. It is brutally verbatim in some ways, but in others (like no narration) it is a bit different. The NYC feel is definitely different. But the BBC show has a different dynamic with Sam and his superior and colleagues. Also, the pacing is a lot different. The American show is faster but the BBC show has more of the pondering paced slower. Also, both shows draw on motifs from their own country's movie/film styles of that early 70s era.

from that article: Meanwhile Fox announced it had bought rights to remake Absolutely Fabulous, the BBC show starring Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley ...

NO! NO! NO! NO!

Cue up the "Twilight Zone" music ... for some reason, my DVR taped the premiere of "Life on Mars," even though it wasn't set to do so. Guess I might have to watch it after all. I really liked the U.K. version.

i saw this the other day... i can't believe they are going to mess with a masterpiece like Ab Fab. they would do better to just air the old original episodes on american TV in prime time.

It could be alright if they did a gender reversal on it - maybe two gay guys or drag queens

I agree. Some things are sacred. Like Ab Fab. Just thinking about Eddy and Patsy and their shenanigans makes me laugh

I loved the ecstacy rave Patsy and Edina were attending and Saffron turns on the lights and it's just the two of them in the living room doing ex. Or when Edina uses the diving rod to pick out her wardrobe.

The second go round didn't seem so funny though.

And yes I'm aware how gay that makes me sound.
