old Bunnymen interview from MTV C 1984

Postby Red » Mon Oct 06, 2008 8:47 pm

if anyone is interested i just uploaded an old interview that i recorded off an MTV show called The Cutting Edge sometime in early 1984 before the Killing Moon single was released. they're playing Porcupine music in the background, but it was definitely aired in 1984, because the following week MTV did a World Premiere of The Killing Moon video, and that song was released in May of 1984.

the interview is in mp3 format. i taped it off the stereo, so it's really clear. i didn't own a VCR yet at that time, but i remember renting one the following week so i could tape the Killing Moon the first time it was aired!

in this interview all FOUR original members actually speak, for a change, not just Mac,! :-) yes, even Pete and Les!

here's the link:

hope it works, i don't think i ever tried using this before.

enjoy!

Crocodiles and HEaven Up Here were the two albums I always went to as a Bunnymen fan. Last year my eyes were truly opened to Porcupine and the concert last week brought about great appreciation of Ocean Rain. I feel lucky actually to have two brand new releases by a band I have loved for a long time.

Is Pete the guy talking about amplifiers?

no. he's the one that says: we all have very quite different musical tastes.

mac does MOST of the talking. the other guys each only get one go.

Well, he did have the nickname "Mac the Mouth" in the 80s, right? (gawd, the 80s . . .just imagine it was the 80s and we had to read old people talking about their fav band from the 60s. Thought it would never be me.)

I always cringe when I hear people call the '80s 'the oldies'. Never!

My Grandmother says the same thing about Al Jolson.
"He was a mongoose, rather like a little cat in his fur and his tail, but quite like a weasel in his head and his habits."

Overheard a couple of years ago by older side of 15 teenagers:

"Eminem is old. He's like 30!"

"That's not old! My Mom is 30!"

They're going to have Doo Wop night at our local church. I can't wait!
I've got to see if Tony Kenny's coming to town too.
