Marketing scams/ploys or seemingly "missed opportunitie

Postby Seven Seas » Tue Sep 23, 2008 11:42 am

Do you believe in that, if you don't take a risk or a chance on things, you're "missing an opportunity" or could it be bad to do so b/c you don't know what terrible situation you could end up in? Or, should you take a risk on things b/c you might end up w/ a great positive life? This is similar in fact to travelling for gigs or other things in life that are very heavily influenced upon money, energy, time-arranged off from work, etc.

I came across a site that was actually posted on the back of my church's bulletin!!! I thought of actually doing so & posting a profile there.

I've also done the opposite by, surrendering it all off...as I'm still in this step since last September actually where I'm just living, doing my own thing, working/travelling, etc. However, it's a sad & lonely existence when you're not loved...

So, if I don't post, am I missing an "opportunity"? Or, if I do & do NOT meet any good men there, should I delete it?

Any friendly advice would be greatly appreciated....the reason I say scam about this website is that, they are seemingly using religious beliefs/views to play upon people, collecting money as a marketing ploy....creating false beliefs in people that think the website is "good" b/c the people are "good" there, using religion to gain prospects.

Thanks!

care in the community
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

Go ahead and post. Some loser calls, you can tell him "Sorry Charlie" but if a Catholic Jude Law shows up then by all means. If nothing else it opens you up to larger groups and who knows where you go from there. your posting for some red hot Catholic love may indirectly lead to meeting someone. I've mentioned a time or two I met my old lady in a Front 242 chat room quite by accident. Was just looking for some 242 info to pass the time and next thing I know I have two kids. A couple of weeks ago I woke up and I was married.

I'm with BlackFrancis. You'll never know if you don't try. Who knows, maybe
you'll make a few new friends in the meantime. It might not be exactly what
you're looking for, but they can be special too. A hope and a prayer is all
anyone has. It'll be okay.

I won't lie & admit that, I am kind of skeptical since, it's using religious so studiously. To me, this represents a huge marketing ploy contradicting its own initial purposes. However, who am I to exactly judge? Websites that use such infiltrations initially pull foolish people like myself into thinking a positive image for the future will be feasible. How laughable is that?!

I guess I'll admit I posted these questions b/c of that...questionable futures.

1) Risk take or not? It's like: Damned if you do or damned if don't...

2) Could this website be for real or a scam (such as others: eharmony, match, perfect match, chemistry.com, lavalife, american singles, great expectations, etc.)? I've been scammed & hurt by many of those mentioned & others unlisted therefore, I'm skeptical again.

3) Even just using religion as a form of creating a certain persona of attraction for a dating website makes me even moreso leery.

We'll see though...wish me luck the calendar is ticking down...

This almost reminds me of the movie: If Lucy Fell.....(Sarah Jessica Parker was in it)

SevenSeas, try not to set your expectations by the 'calendar' ticking away.
It doesn't usually work that way. Just be yourself and see what happens.

I only adopted you for a week - and you were between stints in San Quentin.

Dumbass. I didn't want to adopt you. I just wanted you to call me "Daddy". You too, Brack Flancis

I thought holding your inside out pocket and following you around prison was a sign of fatherly affection.
