Megaupload: Royal Albert Hall concert

Postby Frank The Bunny » Sat Sep 20, 2008 11:39 am

This is the audience recording that was banned from dimeadozen by [s]Peter[/s] Bunnymen Incorporated

Converted from FLAC to 256kbps m4a.
All tracks tagged (w/flyer artwork) and renamed (standard iTunes formatting)

this 208mb zip file can be found on megaupload.com (but for how long?):

The bunnymen have been unbanned from dimeadozen:

"Thanks to a helpful DIME member (you know who you are!) we heard from the real Peter Allen who confirmed that Echo & The Bunnymen do not disagree to the electronic trading of their unofficial live performances. Henceforth, the Echo & Bunnymen entry will be removed from the NAB-list and the previously banned torrents will be reinstated. We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but admittedly this time we fell for a forged eMail (of course we analysed the headers et al., but this one was quite perfect, unfortunately)."

So theoretically this should not be a problem now.

So... reading between the lines on that post, PA had the Bunnymen banned from dimeadozen. There was backlash in the fan community. PA got his hand slapped by band/mgt, and came up with the imposter scenario to cover his tracks.

Reading the "forged" e-mail, I see what you mean.

My head hurts. Good thing the ban has been lifted. Someone posted the megaupload link over there. Was waiting for that link to be disabled too.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe the original email was forged.

In any case, it looks like everything's been sorted out. YAY! Thank you Will and Mac!

I very much doubt anything said on this site would influence any decision The Bunnymen make.......... Some people on here are really starting to take themselves to seriously.............

Mr. Brian, now that this thing's been sorted, can you merge this thread with the dimeadozen thread?

You mean like banning this website from the Bunnymen's links page based on what has been said here?

Nobody is taking "credit" for any decisions made but Peter has shown in the past that he takes criticism very personally and appears to have made questionable decisions and posts based on his personal feelings. Which is of course his right but most forum moderators on offical pages are generally more hands off.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I think it's more about Peter making a very poor decision on behalf of the Bunnymen and his being corrected for making that decision in their name (and then trying to cover it up by making up the ridiculous "forged email" story).

What's done is done. The end result is that it's up again for all fans to enjoy.
Hopefully, some who were sceptics will become believers again...

I'll probably get another kicking for this but having downloaded it and listened to it in the car for the last couple of days I have to say it doesn't strike me as anything particularly special. Sure the orchestra adds to a couple of tracks - Ocean Rain itself sounds superb but other than that it just sounds like another average Bunnymen performance to me. Ok, I wasn't there and you can't judge it from an audience recording but I've got other Bunnymen bootlegs that inspire more than this. Sorry.

On a more positive note Mac sounds better than he has for the last couple of years.
And you know that I'll pick up
Every time you call
Just to thank you one more time

It's all down to personal taste I guess. Some got sweeped up by the event, others not so much. Anyway, nice being able to hear the orchestra a bit more from this recording. Cheers for that Frank The Bunny.

Mac does sound way better. There's a few hiccups (especially at the end of The Killing Moon) but God bless him for going for it though. What's the story? Vocal work? Taking better care of his health?

The official site have had a real u-turn on this one. They're now playing it on the front page of the site. Or am I mistaken?
