I would like to see some of the following on the Bunnymen site:

History Lessons -- Like When Ian and Will muse about recording Ocen Rain in the linear notes of "Crystal Days". Teaches the newer kids about the music, gives fans a peek behind the "curtain".

Contest -- Tickets to the Liverpool show with Sir Paul. Backstagers, VIP. Tie it into gathering names for the site or fro traffic or for placing banners on blogs, you know...Or what about a Bunnymen T-shirt Design Contest. Lots of creative types on here you know...

Bootlegs -- Downloading is killing the music industry, but bands like Morrissey, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Prince have found ways to direct distribute and market songs, videos, merchandice and tickets. They've embraced the pnslaught, while the Bunnymen seem content to re-release older material in newer packages. iTunes makes it easy, for cryin-out-loud. Pull content from Steve's bootleg list and embrace your rich historical past. If nothing more then for the history.

Interviews -- I've never seen a band site with so few. You'd think the official site would pitch a couple of interviews a year at least. Show the fans that the musicians actually care about thier loyalty. Schedule time with Mac and Will to ring up a few fan questions. Post them sporadically to help enliven the site. You may be able to interview Drummond, Boy Kill Boy, ex-band members or others if the "big guys" don't have time. How about Anton Corbijn on his filming of the Bunnymen? Or the crazy dude who shot all the album covers? May be some musings that would be of interest.

Inside Information -- What sense does signing up for an official EATB website get me, if I am not at least privvy to some inside information? Most fan sites, the fans learn before the press. Seems it's the other way 'round here. I think even I broke the Freebase story on the bunnymen forum. You can still leak info and manage to respect the Bunnymen's privacy. Give it a try..It won't hurt.

List Cover Tunes -- by EATB as well as by other artists covering EATB and their solo off-shoots. I never knew Ian sang "Hereos" by David Bowie, until I saw it listed on villiersterrace.com. Should be info I can find here, along with a list of shows played since 1979, as well as official released discography.

Thanks for listening...

Also ask for a unicorn.

I had a unicorn once - fucking horn tore up my furniture upholstery and the drywall whenever the beast tried to navigate my apartment.

Since then, my building management has a "no hoofed animals" policy
I won't likely be getting my security deposit back

Seriously, though.
Many of the things Redgumball's suggested USED TO be part of the official site
Perhaps the label's PR department needs to take the site over, so it's not so consistently amateurish.

During the interregnum Peter did mention a super fancy new website coming soon. Maybe it will incorporate some of the aforementioned items.

He also mentioned a BIG surprise in the new year (which I think turned out to be the Korova thing, which we already knew, which soon went belly-up anyway) There was talk of a gig in the caves, an Albert hall gig with orchestra .... If this stuff isn't about to happen he could just let us know. If it is but not just yet, he could also let us know etc blah blah

I'm also hanging on tight to my HFS ticket stub.

And don't forget back before Siberia was released the site was supposed to be relaunched as a "broadband" site. That should happen any day now.

It's a shame the band is so cheap and won't hire a real web designer and webmaster. In the real world that would be considered a marketing expense and hence an income tax deduction.

And it's sad that the only dynamic part of the current site is the forum and that's so heavily censored, it's essentially useless.

It is even sadder when Nikki Sixx's web site kicks the Bunnymen's ass all over the place. .

woooo! motley crue! LOL

i didn't even know nikki sixx had a website, but it's pretty cool.

i'll still stick up for peter, and all he does (which is awesome that the bunnymen have someone willing to do everything he does for nothing) but you are correct that they should hire designers and PAY the people working on the website. the whole music industry seems to be online now-a-days, and you need to be competitive in the market. it seems to me they don't really care about that though.

Will has a very nice site for Glide. He seems to be very capable of creating a website. Not that he'd have to admin it. He also works with that guy who did Paul Fleming's site. I'm sure that they could have an awesome site with all the talent available to them if there were really interested.
Hopefully WB will put some money into marketing them by at least giving them a decent website.

Actually, they should hire Brian!

Let's face it the official site is an embarrasment to the internet, I was going to say that maybe if Mac didn't put all his money up his nose they might be able to afford a proper site but I decided against it.
