The Church - Ripple

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

The Church - Ripple

Don't remember if I posted this before but this is an amazing song and the video isn't too bad either.

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Like a ghost - a nice simple song with sweet layered backing vocals.

And of course this one has a spacial place in my heart . . .

Snow came up Friday, I gotta go
Spending winter up in Buffalo
Someone I met there is calling me so
Got to escape the blues man, don't you know

Days of sinking summer packed up and gone
Nothing helps me, there's nothing wrong
It was so pleasant, incandescent, it's over now
We should get going

Lady I know there, name of Christina
Six lonely lifetimes since I've seen her
She takes you places your heart cannot go
During the winter up in Buffalo

Days by her fire, dazed in the glow
Winter surrounds us up in Buffalo

Days of drowsy pleasure in the afternoon dark
We drift together, we drift apart
She's got the wherewithal, she's got the knowledge
It's wonderful
I should be going

Out there the Snow Queen is kidnapping boys
Her block-of-ice heart tunes out the noise
And soft in the bedroom her eyes indigo
Sleeping in the winter in Buffalo

Down in Buffalo

Hi BF,

Are you a Church fan? The best gig I seen of theirs was at the Sellersville Theater. It's a small, intimate venue. It was a pain in the royal arse to get to from where I live in Jersey but, definetely worth the bugger of it all.

Even Marty Wilson Piper came out, had a few drinks with people in the front table area & was just very laid back. I like that about people in bands who are cool enough to at least interact with people that cared about them to have made them who they are today....

I have all of their LPs but 2 yet, I've been checking out 2 local vinyl shops near me weekly, to see what comes in. lol

I like that Reptile song.

I love The Church and I feel like they're one band who has never lost their sense of grandeur. They've put a few stinkers out there but I thought Hologram of Baal was amazing and the song "Telepath" is one of their best. "Ripple" is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Like top ten for sure.

Now that has me thinking what are my top ten most beautiful?

Killing Moon
40 Days
Ripple
I Know It's Over
About half of Mojave 3's Catalogue
Kath
In Dreams
To Walk the Night
Comeback
Angelfuck

That's not definitive but a pretty good list

His blog made me sad that it's such a struggle for The Church and the guys solo. Like the Bunnymen, they deserve to have overstuffed checking accounts, lotsa bling, a huge wardrobe with full of capes and topless girls serving them margaritas all day. I suspect they like it a bit more simple than that though.

Telepath is an amazing song.I cant see them coming back to the UK again. They lost money on the last european tour.Kilbey's car is about 15 years old hence he has to sell his paintings. The guy is a genius.Their output since Koppes came back into the fold has been great.Sometime Anywhere and Magician were not proper Church releases in my book!

I'm with you on Sometime Anywhere (horrible cover art) and Magician Among the Spirits but "Comedown" is a pretty good song.

Something's horribly wrong when I'm driving a nicer car than the lead singer for The Church.
