Another BRMC thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Just went to grab some chinese take-out, and Robert Been was on the skybridge to my apartment building looking at the view and yakking on his cellphone.

I didn't know untill I just wiki'd him that he's the son of The Call frontman, Michael Been.

Yeah. In the movie "Dig" Hayes said he had other options if Jonestown Massacre fell apart. I looked him up and saw that about the other guy's connection in The Call.

I have found chances are any band that makes it "big" (ie gets any airplay and promotion from the label) now has some kind of lineage in LA. Gun's 'N Roses' guitarist had a father that made album covers for bands in the 70 and a mom that made outfits, for example. Or Lenny Kravitz has a very powerful uncle in the industry. Who is that girl that has Ravi Shankar as a relative.

Regardless, I love their music. My indie record store friends say they are an alternative Bon Jovi.

Lenny Kravitz's mom was on "The Jeffersons."

BRMC? Yawn.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Loud-ass fucking show.
Their drug-addled drummer has been replaced by Leah Shapiro of the Raveonettes.

As for "yawn" - yeah, the second and third albums sucked, but BRMC and Baby 81 are pure rock. Douchebag.

Their drummer is out? He is a good drummer. I saw the Raves recently and half the drums were canned. The drummer did the Moe Tucker on a tom.

I'm down for the first album but the second album was very disappointing. Not as disappointing as the second Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album but close.

Yes - they do play a loud-ass show - think they mic the drums. Seriously I don't ever wear earplugs, but I wish I had that night! Good band tho - I've got Baby 81. I had always heard of them but never gave them a listen until I went to their show w/ Violets.

Crunchy and catchy hopefully? I'm all about the hooks.

If you like Trompe Le Monde you'll like it. Maybe. If you think Trompe was a sellout - not so much on the Baby 81.

The Pixies and/or Frank Black are incapable of selling. They could do birthday parties, weddings and county fairs and they wouldn't sell out.
