I don't know Wojo. I'm kind of partial to image 9.

They just aren't the same anywhere else.

very true

if you see it on a menu as a "philadelphia cheesesteak" and not just a cheesesteak you know you're not gonna get a good representation of the real thing LOL

I took my buddy to L.A.'s "Best Philly Cheesesteak" restaurant (he's from Philly and every other place we went to he spat on) and he was appalled at the sandwich. He said the difference is the water in Philadelphia. Fuck if I know what that means but he was pretty hardcore about it.

While I fully endorse the derailment of topics, I blame (and support) FTB fully for this instance.

It was more of an observation, that on the surface it didn't
seem to relate to the topic of the thread, but in a funny way,
maybe it did...

i dunno.......personally, i can't see the attraction to the cheesesteaks in Philly. i mean, they're okay, but i like the ones in my local subshop, near my old house, way better. and even the ones i make at home! and the cheese wiz is gross...(on cheesesteaks, i like it on it's own)...gotta be american! (cheddar for everything else , tho)

the water in philly is an acquired taste LOL

as for the cheesesteaks, maybe you haven't been to the right place. pat's and geno's which are the most popular tourist places, actually have the WORST cheesesteaks in the city. they are good at 3am when you're drunk, but otherwise... GROSS. for a touristy place, i'd recommend jim's on south street, or tony luke's down in south philly... there's another place in a suburb called Delassandro's which is my favorite, but its a little outside the city. (though still a philadelphia mailing address)

and no whiz. american all the way :)

been there, twice.

like i said, they're okay, i eat them, but i've had better around here. it's all a matter of taste, and if you grow up with something, that's what you're used to. (some people just happen to grow up in Philly!) (never had Geno's...Pat's wasn't all that!)

i'd rather have the pizza across the street from the TLA! mmmmmmmmmmmm

(i know, i know, someone from NYC is gonna say their pizza is best.......but again, it's all a matter of taste. there's good pizza everywhere, if you know where to look!)

that's Lorenzo's. to philadelphia locals, typically that is known as another "3am when you're drunk" type place... and in those instances it's the best pizza EVER. i still think its pretty good, but its not my favorite pizza.

my personal favorite is Mack's pizza on the wildwood boardwalk. :P wash it down with some pennsylvania dutch birch beer, and you're set. then again, that's another "what you grew up with" thing. hehe

I think I'm further back than that.
