Never heard of Medion. Used to be that building your own was cheaper, but it's hard to beat prices on PCs nowadays. There's a website called Sharkyextreme that occasionally describes the best bang-for-the-buck PC you can build for $1000. It's interesting to follow how quickly performance increases.

almost everywhere I've worked in the last couple of years have used dells (though aren't they based in ireland, if you want to be picky), occasonally HP. Gateway stopped their UK operation a few years ago. Who was it bought compaq? was that PB?
