Is Obama the next US president?

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

Yeah, JEEZUS, Withahip... where's your journalistic integrity, man?

Oh wait... you're not a journalist. You're just a guy on a music fan forum like the rest of us.

My bad.

There's a new book out - Obama Nation - written by the co-author of the Kerry smear, Unfit for Command.
Y'all remember "Swift Boat Veterans For Truth", dontcha? Yeah, same people are behind both.
Funny thing is, before McCain was the presumptive Republican nominee, the same group launched an attack on McCain's war record. Of course, they weren't calling themselves "Swift Boat Veterans" at that point - they had the catchy name "Vietnam Veterans against John McCain", and they charged that he distorted his war record and gave valuable information to the North Vietnamese when he was a P.O.W.

I'm guessing that the really vicious attacks will start after B.O. gets the nomination.

Yes please lecture us about integrity Frank. I wasn't aware that attribution was an obligation belonging solely to journalists. MY bad.

Maybe Obama's people can resurrect the oldie but a goodie "I heard McCain has an illegitimate black baby!" thing Bush's pollsters did during the 2000 primary in South Carolina. That worked out well for Bush. Since Obama himself has a black father it may not have the same effect however. Maybe Hispanic can be the new black for this election.

Then McCain can counter by mistakenly referring to Barack Obama as "Black Osama...oops, my bad.." or just have FoxNews do it repeatedly with that little shoulder shrug and a wink. Yeah I know CNN and MSNBC have done it too but you get the feeling that FoxNews actually has it on their teleprompters. Oh and that lapel pin. Get him on that too. Maybe say something about him burning that pin at the secret terrorist summit that Osama...I mean OBAMA, lol...regularly attends with his pal Rev. Wright.

If you want to consider a post consisting of less than 30 words a "lecture", so be it.

I reckon you wouldn't be so much of a douchebag about a cut-and-paste job if the opinion presented supported your personal views.

Yep, you got me; I'm biased like that. Why can't I be even-handed like you and the rest of the posters here? A personal failing, I guess.

I post to this site to entertain myself. I'm not in the public eye, I'm not running for office, and I don't have any desire to sway you to my point of view.

Here's the thing - you are the ONLY person on this site that's demanded that others provide citations, footnotes, clarifiications and disclosure. Your mantra seems to be "prove it Prove It PROVE IT" when you're faced with an opposing opinion.

There is nothing "fun" about providing citations, footnotes, clarifications and disclosure. Sounds a lot like work to me

My opinion here - our government is extremely fucked up on so many levels. Regardless of party, whether it be local, county, state, or national.
And don't get me started on our horse-and-buggy era electoral system.

There's nothing anybody can post on an Echo And The Bunnymen fan forum that is going to do to fix the mess that is our government.

And apologies to anybody living outside the US when I say this - again my opinion:

As fucked up as our govenrment is, and as much as I disagree with the current administration and the right wing in general, the US gov't is still the best on the planet.

You demand citations, footnotes, and disclosures all the time.

This one's tricky.
If I say "bullshit" in response to that, you could possibly take that as a call from me to prove your point, thereby proving me wrong.

You're one clever motherfucker.

You, by the same token, are unusually hard to catch. Well done.

I really was just trying to prove a point; I don't think it's wrong to call bullshit on someone if you can prove a factual error, especially in this kind of "debate".

Also, I often represent a lone countervailing opinion here, which is why a) I feel obliged to cite my source (as I will encounter more objections to my ideas) and b) the choir does not question the assertions of each other.

How's that old quote go?

"I don't always agree with what you say, but I defend your right to say it...but you're still completely full of shit."

I think that's pretty much the foundation this forum was built upon.

Thanks again, Brian

As usual, Frank, you have misquoted to suit your needs. The ACTUAL quote ends with ", and I had sex with your Mother."

I never realized how gay the Lone Ranger was. It makes sense, though.
