Olympics

Anyone else watching the Olympics? That opening ceremony was just mind-boggling. So far the events have been pretty enjoyable to watch. For some reason they just seem more interesting this year. Maybe it's the HD...

The ceremonies were quite amazing and will be memorable
for so many reasons.

I watch them on the Canadian CBC network, rather than on NBC. A bit less US-bias.
However, I will say that the USA-China b-ball game was fun. Weird seeing Yao playing for the Chinese... even though he's. uh... Chinese.

CBC commentator brought up an interesting point. The Chinese LOVE basketball - some 300 million Chinese play it. For the last 6 Olympic outings, it's been a basketball player that's carried their flag in the opening parade. They love basketball (which they suck at) way more than gymnastics - which they excel at.

Just watching water polo makes me tired.

Nadia and all the (female) gymnastics in the 76 Olympics sling-shotted me into puberty

Do you think waterpolo is a game they invented when beach volleyball teams encountered high tide?

I would have drowned 20 minutes ago.

Watching Men's beach volleyball right now. Somehow not as good as Women's.

Opening Ceremony, few comments.

Thought the guy lighting the torch was going to fall to his death for a second when the cable jolted and he slipped. He then outran the unfurling carpet.

Making Taiwan wave an Olympic flag instead of their own national flag because China wants to keep the myth going that they belong to Chona was a bit lame-O.

Where did, who was it Belgium and Ecuador, get those obnoxious suits? Denmark, jean shorts? Thanks for helping the U.S. save some face when it comes to our Gap obsession. And leave your crocs and cellphones at homes ya goobers.

But fav moment was President Bush sitting with his legs spread open and looking at his watch.

Wow. That isn't really where he wears his watch, is it? Because that lends new meaning to the slogan "takes a licking, keeps on ticking"

What an embarrassment he is. Looked like a bored frat rat. You'd think the first lady (or Mama Bush, or both) would've sat him down beforehand and said, "Now, George, you're gonna be on the TV. Look presidential."

I'm digging the swimming. Bring on diving and women's gymnastics. And synchronized swimming, of course!

It gets worse. One of the women's beach volleyball players offered let him slap her ass, and he did not take her up on it. (This really happened.)

What am I supposed to tell my kids when they asked why our president pussed out when offered an incredible, smoking-hot ass to smack?

i really enjoyed the opening ceremonies... i was amazed at the what was it 500-foot LCD screen that they walked on danced on etc. AND that whole thing with the squares moving up and down to simulate waves and water and other effects was all people inside.... i was very impressed.

the games have been very good so far... at least what i have seen. caught some of the US vs Netherlands soccer, US vs China mens basketball, some of the women's weightlifting, and the men's water polo (i agree that it's very tiring to watch). then later tonight the gymnastics qualifiers and swimming...

i wanna get one of those new laser swimsuits.
not just another drop in the ocean
