I gave not seen it but based on the last few years of the series I have no reason to be excited at all.

If they stopped when it was still good then maybe I would like to see the movie.

I understand it's more like the one-off episodes of the first couple seasons, and not part of the whole alien mythology. I am looking forward to see it, if work ever lets up.

My  was for how I felt when the movie ended. I've always liked that show and Fox and Mulder but, to say this movie had a ridiculous premise and sucked beyond belief would be an understatement.

i'm sorry to hear that - I was a huge fan of the show, and think they waited FAR too long to make this follow-up movie. and part of what i really liked about the show was the long story line about the alien mythology and the "syndicate" and the "lone gunmen" and all that.... i wish they had taken another chapter in that direction rather than a "one-off" episode for 2 hours when we haven't seen mulder and scully for 10 years.

i still want to see it, despite the crappy reviews... but i'm gonna go see batman first

I read an interview with David Duchovny which stated they did the "one off" to reintroduce the characters, and introduce them to those who hadn't see the show, and that future movie installments would build a new mythology.

The reason it took this long for a movie was mostly because of litigation with FOX that's now been cleared up.

oh, no! It sucks? I've had house guests and haven't had a chance to see it yet, or even read the reviews. Is it still worth seeing, maybe at a matinee?

.

Well, then they failed because, as is typical, rather than a new interesting idea Hollywood has decided to make a boring retread of an old tv show.

That SHOULD have been the premise of the movie. It would have been more believable than the actual premise

I have to correct myself in another post. I said, "Fox and Mulder" instead of Mulder and Scully.

Just saw it.

It wasn't anything like what the X-Files became - all little grey men, black parasitic oil, etc.

However, I do think it was much like the first season: very much like the old "Night Stalker" series, which is how it was intended.

No special effects, no cgi. Mostly, it was a dark psychological thriller.
I enjoyed it.

Saw film this afternoon. Not bad. Definitely like a first season monster-of-the-week episode. Thought it started to drag a bit partway through -- maybe Chris Carter could trim it back to 90 minutes (not cutting the shippy moments, of course  ) and it would play better. But overall, I liked it. I might even go see it again once it hits the dollar theater.

I seriously doubt there's gonna be a third film, tho -- there were like six people in the audience when I saw it. Not good, not good.
