How about a Garbage Plate? Rochester, NY

Image

A Garbage Plate is a true Rochester delicacy. It is a disorganized combination of cheeseburger, hamburger, sausages, steak, chicken, hots, or eggs, on top of two out of (homefries, fries, beans, or mac salad), made to order. On top of that you get the options of mustard & onions and hot sauce. This usually comes with a side of white bread and butter.

That white bread is not very good for you I hear, they should offer wheat as a healthy alternative, maybe with a butter substitute.

That had that in Oswego, too.

That reminds me of an old greasy spoon in my college town -- Norman, Oklahoma -- that was home to the Denco Darlin'. Spaghetti, topped with greasy chili, lettuce, tomato and green goddess dressing, with chips and salsa on the side. If you ordered it with eggs, it was a Denco Darlin' With Two Lookin' at You. They also sold T-shirts that said, "I Ate My Darlin' at Dencos."

Hey electrabunny, have you ever been to The Snappy Lunch in Mt Airy, NC? That's the "real" Mayberry where Andy Griffith is from and based that show on for those who don't know. The diner itself was mentioned by name once on an early episode but then was just referred to as "the diner" after that. They have this fried pork chop sandwich topped with Chili, Cole Slaw, Mustard, Onion & Tomato. I wish I had one right now!

I've driven past Mt. Airy when we made trips here from Chicago, but I have never been there. My co-worker's husband grew up there and she was telling me about that place.

In Hawaii, they have a breakfast called the Loco Moco, which is white rice, a hamburger patty, fried eggs and brown gravy...

I love loco moco.

There's a hawaiian restaurant less than a block from me, get them there every now and again, but usually I make them myself

you'll find more about that in my Hangover Helper thread

Frank The Bunny wrote:Now, anyone had a Loco Moco?
It's a hawaiian thing -

a pile of rice, with a ground beef patty on top of that, a fried egg on top of that, smothered in brown gravy. Don't knock it till you've tried it

Also, another great hangover remedy

I'm constantly amazed at these concoctions. They must be OK tasting if they're on menus and people eat 'em, but the presentation ...

Here's another one ... saw this on the menu in the Acadian part of New Brunswick when I visited years ago:

Poutine: French fries topped with cheese curds and brown gravy.

Here, there's the "Seattle-Style" hot dog

From Wikipedia: "Seattle-style hot dogs are known for the liberal use of cream cheese and onions, usually on a grilled/toasted bun, often with kraut. "

All in moderation.
