'Think I Need It Too' due out on July 14?

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

Perhaps that is the answer. Cash in on their old material. If they can do it by performing Ocean Rain live, then an album of re-recordings of their earlier stuff in a double album that would also feature new material. Back that up with single releases of various re-recorded songs - say The Killing Moon and Lips Like Sugar, which constantly seem to go down well with younger audiences at gigs who'd never heard the Bunnymen before. It's not ripping-off their past, but bringing some of their best work together for those who haven't heard it before, obviously with a modern take on it. Okay it's been done in a way with the live albums, but peforming live or in a studio can sound completely different.

I always think they missed a trick when Donnie Darko came out. The Killing Moon should have been re-released as a single.

Promotion? What promotion? Guess how many posters I've seen around Liverpool advertising the Ocean Rain arena gig? That's right. None!
And you know that I'll pick up

No posters at all? The RAH gig was pretty well advertised through the media, probably why it sold out so quickly (that and people thought it was a one-off).

No, nothing. Eric and The Plastic Ponces have got posters plastered all over town advertising their gig at the Academy but the Bunnymen? Bugger all.

(Eric and The Plastic Ponces aren't a real band btw)

Wonder how many tickets have sold now for the Echo arena. According to Echo website, limited for lower tier and standing, good elsewhere. I just entered 10 tickets for standing (the max) and could still buy them if I wanted, which I don't.

If the arena isn't sold out, then why did Peter the Mexican webmaster post this on Friday? Are standing tickets better than sitting tickets?

Liverpool Standing Tickets
Friday, 18 July 2008
Echo & The Bunnymen have just released a limited number of standing tickets for the Liverpool Echo Arena Ocean Rain Show on the 27th November.

No idea. I just put in 10 tickets for lower tier and was offered seats directly opposite the stage, probably among some the best seating in the arena and similar to placings that were offered on the pre-sales for the RAH.

NOW you tell me, i was wondering where my ticket was...
A kite is a contract of glory
that must be made with the sun,
so you make friends with the field
the river and the wind,
then you pray the whole cold night before,
under the travelling cordless moon,
to make you worthy and lyric and pure.

I can't go to that show but I've been so excited for you guys.

All this time I thought it was being heavily promoted! How utterly FUCKING ridiculous and stupid. Is this the band's idea or management's?

They havent got a hope in hell of selling out the Arena. If Coldplay cant sell it out then the Bunnymen definately wont. I reckon they will get somewhere between 3,000 - 5,000. The Arena people are quite good at making the Arena seem full when bands fail to sell it out (they darken the empty areas so you dont notice).

The Arena has great acoustics btw - best big shed Ive been to sound wise.

They havent played an Arena that size (as headliners) for so long will be interesting to see how they approach it. The Carling Academy dry ice, standing still and mumbling between songs wont work in that setting. You need large ammounts of audience interaction or it will fall flat - there is a alot of space between you and the audience (literally and metaphorically) in an Arena gig. I cant see the Bunnymen forking out on a pyrotechnic spectacular light show can you?

So its down to old fashioned rock and roll charisma.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

If it is sold out and it is still several months away, what really needs promotion at this point?

It's not sold out.

That's one of the reasons I don't want to see them there, I also believe their music is more suited to a smaller, more intimate venue, I'd rather they did a week at the Phil or somewhere rather than one night in a barn. Arenas should be left to the likes of U2 and Bon Jovi.

That is exactly what he's going to do. they have played huge festivals and that is what he does. It's his "cool" thing. . . . I guess.
