Is Obama the next US president?

I thought it was satire on the rumors that go around not a statement of fact, yet even the right winger talking point people seem to be denouncing it.

As Steven Colbert said "Finally a New Yorker cartoon I can understand!"

I feel Steven Colbert is a walking, talking, living example of satire. He's a genius. The right needs their own version, but not Dennis Miller.

I wonder how many Americans had to look up the word "satire" after this cover came out. First, "elitist" now this. Too many big words.

Looking at it from an offensive perspective, does anybody feel it was worse or = to comparing Bush with Hitler?

I got the joke, I just thought it would've been more appropriate as a political cartoon in Hustler than as the cover of the New Yorker.

The thing is there ARE a lot of people who think Obama IS a Muslim but those are not the folks reading The New Yorker

Who gives a shit? The Maverick and the Messiah? At the core they are both opportunistic, pandering, full of shit politicians and they BOTH represent business as usual. We've run off any candidates that would effect any meaningful change. McCain just figures it's finally his turn and Obama let George Clooney get to his head. And with their positions both are rapidly proving that neither have a backbone nor a conviction in their body.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I agree. Living in New York, which is probably the most corrupt state in the nation, and which people are leaving in droves, I have no hope at all in local or national politicians. The courts....pah! What a tragedy all around. Sooooo depressed!

I agree they're basically all the same and I don't know what (candidates affecting meaningful change) really means these days when everything comes down to graft.
This is why it would be a good idea to have robots run. The Democratic robot would be against the Iraq war, for abortion and against the death penalty. The Republican robot would be for the Iraq war, against abortion yet for the death penalty. No campaigning or mudslinging. The American voters don't have to be confused by big words like satire or elitist. They don't have to fear the candidate because of his/her color or religion. They just have to show up on election day and vote on those three principles.

I miss Bill Maher.

and think about it, robots have no passion. They'd never get caught having sex in the oval office. Think of all the other things they'd never do that politicians do. They wouldn't even know how to lie.

The problem is that NEITHER one would be "opportunistic, pandering and full of shit" ,plus they both wouldn't give two shits about having other people's/nation's money in their pockets (since they have no pockets) so it would be a difficult choice
