well they've bankrolled their own tours before. wasn't the 25th anniversary tour under their own steam? I'd have thought a albert hall sell out should pay for itself, even with a few violins.

I think you're right. They must have paid for their own tours in the recent past. I can't see any of their previous labels being able to finance a trip to the zoo much less a world tour.

Shit, we spoke too soon. It looks like the Bunnymen are back to indie label purgatory.

Old thread, I know.

Love Avalanche. I love the song and the Hardin and Dylan covers are great too. The remakes of their own stuff seems a bit of a waste, in that the originals are still superior. Would have been interesting if they reinterpreted the songs the way they did with A Promise (Lo-fi Lullaby).

I wish they would continue to do more things like this, not meant for a big push to the masses, but for the fans. A few covers, a few reworked classics, and the odd new song that may not fit on a proper release like the Fountain. Could even be mp3 only releases to save costs.

I would shit myself (on purpose this time) if they would PLEASE re-master Avalanche. Metallica's And Justice For All sounds less muddy.

I'd shit myself if they released a new album with 5 or 6 songs as good as Avalanche.

Easily one of the best songs they've done since getting back together.

Indie label hell? Not so much. They've done quite well with this recent visit to the States. Being on Jimmy Kimmel was a good move. Wish they had done Saturday Night Live way back when in the 80s, but there was only a once a week shot at it, so maybe they just went with a bigger name band. Duran Duran was on once.

I have no idea what's going on with radio play on this album. Used to hear them on the radio all the time and see their videos on the video shows. I'm shocked at how much I remember hearing and seeing of them at such a tender age.
I long for the pork of Porcupine. (A slide show dedicated mostly to Will right here.... http://www.examiner.com/rock-music-in-l ... -here-tour)

Avalanche is one of the best Bunnymen songs ever. Dark, cavernous, yearning and awesome. I wish they would play it live, if they did I would get off my ass and go to their concerts again, it would be worth going just for that one song.
The Covers of "It's all over now baby blue" and "Hang on to a dream" are fantastic as well, but the covers of their own material are inferior to the original, not enough rhythm and weak vocals, the sort of thing critics of the "mature" Bunnymen latch on to.

I always wondered if the weak drumming on All My Colours on Avalanche and live at the time was done purposely as a kind of respect to Pete. Sort of a statement - no-one will drum on that song like Pete again. Judging by this recent sound check, it has got louder again (after the No Dark Things guitar riff!), although still not as dynamic.
