Well the music biz is a fickle beast. It would not surprise me if Warner did not release anything new by them. They are in business to make money not to foster artists. Everything that comes out on a major label doesn't make money no matter who it is. Judging by the probable low sales of the last 3 albums (I've never seen actual numbers), I don't think this will change now. I think the best case scenario is that Warner will release one album and then they will get dropped again. I base this opinion on the fact that even "Rust" made it to a respectable #22 on the UK singles charts and London still dropped them and that was still better charting than any single off the Grey Album or any McCulloch solo single. Then again, anything is possible I suppose and I wholeheartedly wish them all the luck.

I still say that it is not Mac singing the dos dos on Avalanche apart from the end of the chorus when he chips in. Same with the accompanying vocals in the chorus of It's All Over. One of the band members.

Yeah it does seem like this Warners thing is off, judging by the Will brazil interview. Also when "I think It Need It Too" was listed on Janice Long's show it gave no music label. Sad as it is. The days of a top 20 single or album are long gone now. On a smaller scale, if they can't find another label, I say they find another small indie label that'll put it on CD and the Royal Albert Hall gig on DVD (or fund it themselves), and prior to releasing it offer it a free download so it does the rounds a bit more. "The Fountain" will probably still be released, but in what format is anybody's guess.

Well, they WERE signed to Warners, which is a huge label. I've got to think that they could sign to a lot of other smaller labels without much of a problem. The Bunnymen may not sell a ton of albums or get into the top ten often, but I'd be very surprised if they don't sell more albums than a lot of signed bands out there.

It's all about marketing if you want to sell a million + albums and the Bunnymen aren't ever going to get that kind of attention from a record label.

I just hope they release the Fountain online soon so I can listen to. Release it on vinyl and I'll gladly buy that too.

If they are still waiting on signing with another label it'll be awhile before the album comes out unless they decide to release it online and then release it in CD form later when signed.

It may be rumor, but it does add up, ina a way.

Does anybody remember when London dropped them in the 90's?

There was the same sort of feeling in the air.

Maybe they need to take Atkins class.

If I remember correctly, London made them an offer and they deemed it too low. However demeaning they took that offer to be I don't think they can deny no label has pushed as hard for them post 97. Those were good times to be a Bunnymen fan. It was (to me at least) the first reunion that didn't feel contrived or anything less than completely relevant. F!@#ing World Cup.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

That's where it started to go wrong. Some blame the World Cup song, but if they hadn't departed from London at that very point, they might have had a number of more years in the public eye. If you look at how the albums or singles do now, no 21 or 22 in the UK charts for a few weeks is not that bad. Seems the Bunnymen can be their worst enemy sometimes, or maybe it's just fate. Mac leaving in the late 80s when the band were at their biggest point in America. A comeback in the UK killed off after three years. Warners getting them back, recreating the classic "korova" label, and then shelving that idea.

Still, after all these knockbacks, they do have the tendancy to soldier on. Many a band would have called it a day long ago if they'd gone through the same thing.

That was quite awhile ago, though, wasn't it? 1995? London put out Evergreen after that. And wasn't it London that scooped up a number o bands after Factory's demise?

As I recall there was some vocal "treatment" beyond the norm going on with that one.

Have I missed something here? Have the Bunnymen been kicked into touch and the new album shelved or is it just rumour and innuendo on this forum?

If they aren't on a label, does this mean that they have to pay for all the upcoming shows on their own? That's just crazy! I hope nothing gets cancelled!
