Coldplay's new album

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Coldplay are shite!
And you know that I'll pick up
Every time you call
Just to thank you one more time

Coldplay were terrible last night on the BBC.That second song is awful, even with Eno producing. The Les Paul made me smile.Watch out Slash, that guy from Coldplay who no-one knows the name of is ready to rock.Has anyone ever known a small guitar riff as annoying as the 'na na naa naa' in their new single? Its like someone is poking me in the eye.

I guess it comes down to this -you are only able to understand those you agree with.
That is _true_ greatness.

And by the way - I am having a bit of fun arguing this all - I am not really wound up about any of this. I think we all mastered this argument by the age of 25.

I have to say, I love quoting this statement by the Dr. and it's my 2nd time!

Do you think Eno's hiring of a hypnotist made them worse "shite" or kept them the same "shite"?

i like to think that that eno is mr snake oil himself - and thats not a criticism, brilliant game plan...... having got away with bringing out all those albums of noodlings, farty sounds and bits of melodies he couldn't be arsed to work up into proper songs, everyone thinks he's great and so he gets hired, goes in and says, yeah thats really cool, yeah thats great, fantastic, but heres a hypnotist "ooo woo woo woo enos great enos great, when you wake up, it'll all be enos ideas, oh and yeah, enos great'. So the short answer is - same shite. but, yeah we managed to pursaude the great eno to help us out, and yeah, all the good bits are his.

I see how Eno can be seen as a snake oil salesman - but the liner notes of JAmes new cd detailing how much Eno benefited their approach to music, the sound he helped create on Unforgettable Fire (especially the title track) and Brian Eno produced, arranged, and played keyboards on two tracks from Slowdive's Souvlaki and the bands said they used that help to complete the album - and finally Eno's production on Harold Budd's the Pearl leads me to appreciate his influence. I will have to go with the finish products rather than a bitter Brit's creative diatribe on the subject.

moi? just joshing - the thought of having a hypnotist just sent me off on one. I mean you you might be a bit nervous if your boss suggested that as a route to self improvement wouldn't you. Will there be chris pretending to be a chicken? Is that where the idea for the military jackets came from (or is that another bunnymen influence). ANyway i belive its thanks to your suggestions i delved into a bit of eno/budd. top stuff.

"when you wake up it'll be all eno's ideas" ...................I never thought of it that way! Genius!

"Will there be Chris pretending to be a chicken?".................Or Rihanna?

The military jackets reminded me of Sgt. Pepper

As long as it isn't Jackson Browne, we should be ok.

Martin could truly afford to learn how to dance if he is going to try.

Did anyone see this today? Apparently, a group calling themselves the Creaky Boards is accusing Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" as a direct ripoff of their song.

I don't know if this will work:

And I still always think the beginning of Steve Miller's "Keep On Rockin' Me Baby" is Free's " It's Alright Now"
