I guess I'm just too old and crotchety. I can't stand Seinfeld or anything passing as comedy these days. I'd rather watch re-runs on TV Land. Nothing past the 70's mind you. It all went to crap after that, except for Columbo, the Odd Couple, and All in the Family. Sometimes I do enjoy Sanford and Son.
Cannot stand The Love Boat.
Get Smart was funny but don't know if it holds up anymore. I still like The Munsters. When Grandpa would drink ketchup out of a bottle with a straw because he wasn't allowed by Lilly to drink blood since leaving "the old country". Herman Munster is da bomb!

I remember watching the first pilot of that show. Oh that Charles Ingalls! It was wonderful but got sooo predictable after the third season. I hated the end when they blew up the town.

Never liked Seinfeld. Or Friends. But Mad About You. yes!

Don't forget Green Acres, My Three Sons (the really old ones with Bub and before Ernie), the Andy Griffith Show and Leave It to Beaver. And later on, St. Elsewhere, Hill Street Blues and Northern Exposure (before it got stupid).

I don't know if Get Smart would hold up today -- haven't seen it in years -- but I hate the thought that they're turning it into a movie! And now I hear somebody is going to make a Welcome Back Kotter movie

That restaurant in Pomona, we didn't know it had been "saved" by Gordon Ramsay until the waitress told us so. It was just convenient to the Jesus and Mary Chain concert down the street. We were the only customers for the longest time. Not a good sign. And from what I remember when the episode finally aired, the place didn't last long after it was "saved"

I think both versions of The Office have their merits. Neither is better or worse.

However, Pam Beesly could whup Dawn Tinsley's ass in a rumble anyday. Pam's a scrappy little receptionist.

American sitcoms and commercials always seem to feature unlikely couples ( fat guys with their thin, pretty wives)

Most of the shows in the first few episodes of any of the 70's sitcoms were pretty good until they latched onto the most annoying character and just beat it into the ground, like Horshak's laugh or Vinny Barbarino's stupidity. After a little bit of success, these shows loose whatever was good in them and just cater to the lowest common denominator, which older shows like Munsters, I Love Lucy, Leave it to Beaver, Mr. Ed, My Favorite Martian never did. They were predictable as hell but they didn't just become one-joke shows.

The first few seasons of ER was very good until George Clooney left.
Barney Miller was pretty good too.

I saw bits and pieces of the mini-series Andromeda Strain. It was pretty good.
