The Obligatory Contented of Hove Thread

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

"Today's Lesson" on Later. Can any of our leetle British chums tell us if they played anything else?

I heard that they played at the start and end but the person who told me couldn't remember what!

Dig, Lazurus, Dig was the first track. The advantage of watching it on the iplayer is that you can skip past Mick Yuckn... I was traumatized by accidentally seeing 5 secs of him before Today's Lesson. Hopefully there will be more on Friday's show. (Nick not Mick)
Is it just me or is the facial hair not a bit more Porn Star than Gringo now?

Sorry no - fell asleep before it rather than during - though Friday's the longer version.

I guess he's entertaining and has some longevity.

Despite the Olympia being a "legendary venue" with the Jacques Brel and Jimi Hendrix photos to prove it, the sound is often shite. It was last night until about the encore. The sound at the Casino de Paris in April was excellent. Nick was on excellent form, except for the tail-end of a cold that sometimes played havoc with his voice, and they made a real effort to play a different setlist. They played "The Mercy Seat"! The closest they got to "From Her to Eternity" was "I'm going to tell you about that little girl" during "Deanna". Nice to hear "The Weeping Song", too. Warren Ellis (who still looks like they fished him out of the Seine) faced the audience except when he was playing maracas. Understable, really. Nick was dressed as in April except for a white shirt instead of black and put on a plain black T-shirt for the encore. Best bit of banter: "Puma?! You come to a fucking Nick Cave show in a Puma T-shirt?

Night of the Lotus Eaters
Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!
Tupelo
Today's Lesson
Red Right Hand
I Let Love In
Midnight Man
The Mercy Seat

Moonland
The Ship Song

More News from Nowhere

Stagger Lee

PS Forgot to mention that Jarvis Cocker was there and on the guest list.

Glad you enjoyed it. I kind of like him a bit more since my vicarious association via this forum - he's certainly entertaining - a bit like Julian Cope.

well, you can 'see' him........so that's a start! although, i can't handle that damn moustache he has these days, so i'm not so sure that's such a good thing! heheheheheee

j/k of course!

but seriously, they are two completely different performers. both Gods in their line of work. although i do wish Mac would go back to looking like he enjoys it a little more.
