The song is on Janice Long's Friday show. Sounds pretty awesome, IMO and the production is really good. Better than Siberia based on this one song so far. Ian's vocals sound different than the other recent albums. It's still definitely his vocals but they sound a little different, in a good way.

I don't want to continue the sport of Mac bashing but the vocals sound distinctly dodgy to me on this, on the upside Will sounds great. However, in the vein of Stormy Weather, chartwise I predict this is going nowhere.

Pleasantly surprised, I like it. We all know chart position is fuck all to do with how good a song is, it's about how much the BBC wanna play it.

The song definitely has some of the energy that was missing from Siberia. Someone sounds like they're actually pounding on the drums for a change. Will sounds great but Mac sounds pretty scratchy on vocals. I mean he sounds better than most but it sounds like he isn't doing shit to take care of his voice.

Those who heard it live, is the studio version better?

Just heard it via the BBC's website. Agreed that Mac's voice does sound dodgy in places but the production is superb. Reminds me of Electrafixion-type sound in places. More like Stereophonics' Dakota. For all the stick about using a boy band producer, seems this guy knows what he is doing. And no diamond-encrusted shades in sight.

I've posted the same thing on the darkside.I recorded it onto my dvd recorder from Sky TV.Musically great,alive and sounds very Electrafixion.Will right up in the mix.Mac's vocals sound...raspy and low in the mix.Very heavy reverb.Janice likes 'em.Pleasantly suprised though and 1000 times better than the live version.

Whether it will sell to get a decent chart position when it is released is another matter, although at least it is going to get the long period of promotion this time that didn't happen with Cooking Vinyl. Pushing a single or album one month or a few weeks before release is not enough these days. This has over two months to do the rounds.

Giving it another listen now.

Instrumentally, it borders between Electrafixion & Evergreen.
It has an urgency that's been missing since then.

Mac's vocals are better than I've heard since WAYGTDWYL. Not saying he's on-par with that, but he's obviously regained some range. Maybe he really DID quit smoking.

That said, My favorite part is the chorus, particularly at the middle when it goes into Will's solo. The wall of sound created by the guitars and drums, combined with the "whatever you want..." - it seriously reminds me of a lost Electrafixion track.
