I know Mac seems to do better in the studio lately than live. I've been hoping that him being able to do both isn't too much to ask. That's what I meant.

It sucks to go see someone after hearing their album at home and at the performance a band member ruins it. I don't like the Stones but I give Mick Jagger credit for giving 100% and at least pretending to want to be there.

well I think youre wrong there, I think he does. I think thats the whole thing about the stones, tht if they weren't successful they'd still be doing it, still be a little bar band doing the rounds. INstead they are the most famous bar band in the world and still up for it. Someone said earlier (was it you i cant remember) about their old man saying they are just a nostalgia act, and if you look at their 40 year old set list you'd say the same, but as a live band there's no half measures. sooner go see them than radiohead. Fairly academic point seeing as i cant be arsed.

Well, if he's not pretending then that's even better. My Husband did say that. He was and still is a fan but won't go see them live now I'd like to see that Scorsese movie.

The best band I ever saw live ( sound-wise, because you couldn't tell if you closed your eyes if it was the album or them live) was Haircut One Hundred. They were into it too.

I gotta agree there. I was never a great Stones fan, but I don't think you will find anyone who puts more into a show. People make comments about them being geezers, and they should give it up, etc. (I have made those comments myself.) But if you watch them you can tell that rock is in their DNA, and they could never do anything else, and they are still very very good at it.

Man seeing the Stones in a small club would be so great. Jagger and Richards just drip charisma and style. That's much more important in rock and roll than musical ability.

During Steel Wheels I was a bartender in a medium sized club and there was a rumor that Stones were planning an "unannounced" gig there. It was the greatest show I never saw that never happened.

...and I am not even a huge Stones fan. The big arena stuff just turns me off.
