Thought it started to drag a bit partway through -- maybe Chris Carter could trim it back to 90 minutes (not cutting the shippy moments, of course) and it would play better. But overall, I liked it. I might even go see it again once it hits the dollar theater.
I seriously doubt there's gonna be a third film, tho -- there were like six people in the audience when I saw it. Not good, not good.
It felt like it was a story meant to be a single episode, that had to be padded to feature-length. But then, they did have to open and close the two different storylines in a neat little package. Had it been the small screen, the subplot about the kid could've arced over two to three episodes.
There was a small turnout when I went, as well. But then, it was a morning matinee.
I think the movie did prove that there is some interest in these characters. However, I don't think Scully & Mulder are meant for the big screen. It would be cool to see them come back as a series or an occasional miniseries or movie-of-the-week -as a FOX product, FX would be the perfect outlet, where Mulder can be a little edgier than on regular TV. I do believe they say "shit" on FX from time to time.
