With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Red's a teaser - it must be really big, like Will's told her the release date.

It is nice to hear he is playing bass again for the first time, for as far as I know, in 10 years. That in itself is interesting.

I am sure this will fuel new rumors and speculation about Les rejoining the Bunnymen. My take is that this is it is this is more of a one-off type thing to have fun with no major commitment required from Les and had he wanted to rejoin the Bunnymen he would have done so at LIPA or at one of the original three Ocean Rain shows.

I think Les playing is interesting in and of itself. Not being a musician myself, I wonder if this necessarily means he has been playing all along, or is it more of a riding a bicycle thing, where he would just need a few weeks of practice to clear out the cobwebs.

I was of the impression that Will and Les rarely played outside of rehearsals and that this used to irritate Mac for some reason. Neither one strike me as "traditional" players where they would just pull out a guitar and noodle around or practice for hours on their own and they used the basics of Mac's songs or the band environment to play off each other to get ideas for songs.

I think that sums it up pretty well. I quit playing drums regularly over 4 years ago. I've gotten the chance to jam now and then, and even played a few shows. If you've played an instrument long enough, and then go on "hiatus", it really never leaves you. If you've got the "feel" down, you'll always have it. I think it's just getting your body used to performing the more technical aspects of it, and remembering the parts again.

Les has always struck me as a natural musician, which is why he's so fricken awesome w/o being a virtuoso. His bass parts are very original, and are way more tricky to play within the context of the song than most would think.

Glad to hear he might be playing out again.

If he's up for a couple of gigs then why not the Ocean Rain shows. That would have made more sense and would have been deserving of a  emoticon.

It does not seem Mac is the greatest example of practicing and keeping his voice in shape.

True but I think it was some quote from the 80's that Will did not really practice that often and did not play for months at a time if the band was not actively playing which was something that surprised him.
