Glasvegas!!

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Glasvegas!!

Had never heard of them, but I just checked out their official site and I must say I really like the sound. (Listened to the track 'Geraldine'.)

One thing I like is the vocal style--bringing the brogue and even invoking the sound of bagpipes.

The opening sounded a little Interpol-y, and there's also a little Will Sergeant in the guitar, it seems to me. (Not literally, of course)

2 minutes into the first tune on my space and WOW! Early romantic passionate voices - cool guitar - I notice the songs cut out early - worried about piracy?

We had a band called the Outfield from Canada a bit like this in the late 80s.

They take 60's Everely Brothers-esque vocals and 80s guitar and - YES - Mac's bellow. A bit of the sam sounding from song to song - but that has been the story of some of what I consider some of the greatest bands.

Even if this is spam for a band - it is spam appreciated. Love that Scottish thick accent.

Nice video

Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

its a thought though. you could create a whole sitcom, or at least an episode of the x files or something out of that, or maybe a new version of the borrowers. if he wasa in a bad mood he might start jumping up and down on your wammy bar just when you weren't expecting it or hang his washing up on your strings just when you wanted to pick a sweet little solo. this deserves a thread of its own really - the adventures of little will sergeant - in my guitar.

The lead singer said in an interview they are heavily influenced by Jesus and Mary Chain. He then said how important JAMC were in shaping the sound of the likes of the Roses etc . Wonder where JAMC got their inspiration ?!!

how you are my hero
how your never here though
remember times when you put me on your shoulders
how i wish it was forever you would hold us
right now im too young to know
how in the future it will affect me when you go
you could have had it all
you, me, and mum y`know
anything was possible

i wont be the lonley one
sitting on my own and sad
a fifty year old
reminiscing what i had

i wont be the lonley one
sitting on my own and sad
forget your dad, he's gone

all i wanted was a kick-a-bout in the park
for you to race me home when it was nearly getting dark
how i could've been yours, and you be mine
it could've been me and you until the end of time
do what you want, when you want
be as fuckin' insincere as you can
what kind of way is that to treat your wife
to see your son on saturdays
what way is that to live your life?

i wont be the lonley one
sitting on my own and sad
a fifty year old
reminiscing what i had

i wont be the lonley one
sitting on my own and sad
forget your dad, he's gone

Wow! I like this band a lot! Thanks for the tip. I've become so bored with all my music lately too.

McGhee alway's says that !!!!!

I like them and have seen them live about a dozen times, it's really wierd all this hype about them now bearing in mind having seen them in many a dive lol...... Really looking forward to the album coming out........

Also need to say the most of them come from Dalmarnock in Glasgow, one tough area so I would not recommend heckling them at a gig........
