Where Has All The Music Gone?

Postby Sick4Tunz » Mon Jan 05, 2026 2:58 pm

While checking out a dark corner of a bookshelf, I recently came across a packet I received from Steve Doughty, may God rest his soul, containing a number of CDs on which are music tracks from,,,the Bunnymen! I'm pretty sure several of you traded music bootleg recordings with him. He had a massive collection of the bands recordings. Any idea as to what may have happened to all of those recordings? His page is still up (https://stevedoughty.co.uk/). Are recordings still being traded? Has a library of his recordings been created for all to access? It would be such a waste it all that effort just vanishes. What do you think Steve would want?

In this packet I received in April 0f 2011 were the following Bunnymen recordings:
19.07.1982 Milan Suene
26.08.1982 Liverpool Sefton Park
17.02.1983 Paris Palais
23.10.1983 Stratford Royal Shakespeare Theatre (Matinee)
23.10.1983 Stratford Royal Shakespeare Theater (Evening)
12.05.1984 Liverpool St. Georges Hall
19.10.1984 Birmingham Odeon
29.11.1984 Osaka Maichini Hall

I now share with you the 19.07.1982 Milan Suene recording. Unlike the tracks on the original CD disc, I've spliced them all together because when I listen to the whole show I hate those short interruptions between tracks.

With A Hip
Show Of Strength
Villiers Terrace
Crocodiles
Zimbo
All That Jazz
Rescue
No Dark Things
Over The Wall

Here's the link:

Otherwise I hope all of you are having a great start to 2026 and have much to look forward to!

Many thanks for this - any chance you could upload the Sefton Park one as well? I was at the gig and remember it well as they opened with Fuel, which was a bit unusual. It was later broadcast on BBC2 but it was only highlights and Fuel wasn’t included.

I’d also like to know what’s out there from Steve’s collection as I haven’t been able to find much. I threw out a load of my bootleg cassettes many years ago as I thought they’d be easy to find in MP3 format, but that hasn’t proved to be the case. I’ve still got a cassette of 1985 demos but now have no means to play it so that’s another one I’d like to get hold of and hear again. I’d also love to get hold of a recording of The Monro  from November 1985 as it was another one I was at.

I will upload Sefton Park. Check out the link provided on Steve's page. If it was listed on his page, he had it. Let me see if I have the 1985 demos and the show from 1985 (I have 100+ recordings). Give me a little time with so much else happening!

I could not find the 1985 demos, but, I do have a folder I've labeled "Demos" with 20 recordings in it. It may include the ones you are referring to. Here you go!

Please let me know if there is any problem.

More demos. I noticed that when I click on the link provided, the MediaFire page spins like its loading. One needs to click the "MORE DEMOS" or Echo - Demos" tab at the top of the page, to the left of "Share this Folder" Enjoy!
