he didn't sound purely scottish to me....and maybe this is why:

from wiki:

Henry Ian Cusick Chavez was born in Trujillo, Peru to a Peruvian mother and a Scottish father. He is fluent in both English and Spanish, and grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, where he attended Presentation College, and Scotland, moving to the latter at the age of fifteen.[1] He was raised Roman Catholic.[2] Cusick spent six months at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow and then joined the Citizens' Theatre.

Thanks a lot for that interview Brian. It gives a new perspective on what was going on with the band at the time. Actually I never listened to Reverberation. I knew it was out, but without Mac, I didn't even bother and never had the inclination to check it out before this interview. The video you posted was the first time I have heard anything from the album and I must say it was pretty good. It's just really difficult for a band to move on without the original lead singer, b/c they are just the obvious sound and forefront of the band (e.g. - how well have INXS done w/ their new lead singer?) - of course in the Bunnymen's case, it wouldn't of been the same if Mac had stayed and Will had left, since Will's sound is equally as important to the band.

I can only think of metal or hard rock bands that have successfully pulled off the lead singer switcheroo, AC/DC, Van Halen, Black Sabbath. Those bands all had very distinctive singers too. I know there are more but that's off the top off my head...I guess Genesis did it too and Yes did too,

I'm not so up on the metal bands - but true, Van Halen did it successfully w/ VanHaggar - but weren't the old fans upset? I think in that case, they created a whole new generation of fans. Then they just made a huge mistake with getting that guy from Extreme - that didn't go anywhere! I'm also having trouble thinking of bands who were successful w/ a new lead singer. Well, thanks again for taking the time to get that interview together. I have an idea for another interview - how about Peter from the Official Forum? (just kidding  )

I'll use a Noel Burke quote to answer that even though you are kidding , "I'll get around to answering that one when I stop laughing. It would have been so incongruous"

I'll tell you what. He can interview me and I'll interview him and we can all fall asleep reading them.

I wonder if the posts about the interview over "there" will also be deleted, as the links to your website were?

How about Buzzcocks? Their original singer -- Howard Devoto -- quit after they put out their first record, Spiral Scratch. But I think Pete Shelley is so identified as the Buzzers' singer that in their case, it's OK. I do like Howard's spin on the early stuff tho

Pink Floyd? Or was Syd Barrett not the lead vocalist? Black Flag and Faith No More did alright after singer swaps. If anything Faith No More became better.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I think Syd was the frontman.

Black Sabbath was a GREAT band, as was Alice Cooper. Two VERY talented bands that didn't really need Ozzy or Alice.

I'm a little late here  but that was a great interview! Really interesting questions, Mr. Brian! Much more substance than rock mag or MTV/VH1 interviews!

Really great interview Brian. Mr. Burke is very humble and funny.
His lyrics were very good on that album. I'm glad that he was down to earth about it all, about his experience with EATB, the failure of the venture and he still has good memories and doesn't mind answering questions about it. He sounds like a good chap.

It would probably be easier to get an interview with Mac.
