My son has gotten into urban exploring so I've been trying to take him to various locations like the abandoned LA zoo and others. We learned about an abandoned Nazi camp in the hills of Los Angeles which sounds silly but it's legit.
http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2012/04/ ... palisades/ We told Jack about it and he got excited so we made a trip of it. Was definitely worth the effort. About a five mile hike round trip and a very steep set of stairs numbering over 500 steps.

The 500+ steps to get down

About half way down

The gardens

The generator building

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts
