I listened to most of it. It sounds good, better than The Fountain. The album is in full on *#***## but the order of the tracks isn't right and it might not be the final mix. Have pledged for just the ordinary album, didn't want to pay an extra eight quid for a couple of demos and a "Making Of" which is bound to appear on YouTube eventually.

I'm waiting for the CD itself, though it could be Christmas if Mac's Pledge record is anything to go by.

Surely you have to give it time? Some of my favourite albums over the years have been ones that I didn't initially like, I usually find albums that I immediately like are discarded fairly quickly as they soon become over familiar due to their instant appeal.

Anyway, whatever you think of Meteorites you have to agree it's a massive improvement on The Fountain!

hey! don't insult a person who has taken the time to go to youtube...!

the man himself is on 6music tomorrow afternoon bigging up the new album. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0422psk
i think the album is much better than anybody dared hope, based on the couple of listens so far, looking forward to hopefully hearing at least 4 tracks off it on Friday night!

I will be at the Paris show next week. Will be interesting, maybe Mac will still be in birthday party mode.

Maybe my expectations were so low after The Fountain that anything halfway decent was bound to be met with giddy excitement but I've heard Meteorites a few times now and I still really like it!

Mac is on Radcliffe & Maconie later.
It wouldn't work if Mac was a slaphead would it.

You're right, sometimes an album becomes a grower.
But sometimes too, at the first listen you know you'll never like it...

managed to get a listen to the meteorites just before it disappeared and thinking, not bad, hmm, maybe i have misjudged it etc, can even see where the disintegration comparisons were coming from, but then the next one up brought me back down again. As many of you say may be a slow burner - HUH was for me back all those decades ago. Not in any rush to get myself a fake japanese account though just to get it early. we'll see.
