Grapes upon the vine has bits of Angels & Devils in there, very nice too.

Agreed. Meteorites sounds a little like The Cure Disintegration era.

It reminded me of Plainsong too. Hope, where is the hope in me? Can it be found, among all the ghost in me?

Then it bursts into that chorus. I just hope it doesn't fade into a nothing song like Forgotten Fields did. Very promising.

OK so it's finally leaked. I'm scared to give it a first listen. I know you will joke and say i should be scared to give it further listens.

EDIT It's over. This is the worst EATB album ever. (or at least their worst Side A ever, none of the first five songs are at least average).
And i didn't forget Flowers or The Fountain. And I'm not glad to say this, i had (a bit of) faith in Ian again this time but this has reached my tolerance limits.

Hopefully this is the last "Bunnymen" album if this is how it's going to sound. No thank you. Basically sounds like Mac's last album, big surprise, with a few small differences. Will's guitar is barely heard except for a couple songs, it's so low in the mix most of the time. It's mostly Mac's vocals and keyboards/synths for the most part. I wonder what would've happened if Will refused to record guitar parts, could they legally still call it the Bunnymen?

That bad? I thought a few of the samples sounded okay (from the now extended ones on iTunes) and bought the MP3s of Market Town and Lovers On The Run (which I have warmed to even if it is repetitive). I still think The Fountain was the worst "Bunnymen" album - couldn't stand it, and never went after that Holy Ghosts one after hearing a few tracks either. Oh dear!

Perhaps Les and Will could rename Poltergeist Echo & The Bunnymen. Someone get on the phone to Noel Burke!

I like it better then The Fountain and Flowers. My problem with it is its too repetitive lyrically and the drums and bass are to low in the mix. I don't mind the production with the layered vocals.

Market Town and Lovers on the Run are probably the best songs on the album. It basically sounds like a recent Mac solo album, because that is essentially what it is, so if you dug that stuff you'll probably like it.

I'd actually like to see Les and Will get together with another singer/songwriter and see where that goes. Will already helped on that one album with that female artist, can't remember her name. I think Mac's a lost cause at this point.

Hmm. I have had it with Ian McCulloch And The Hiredhands - never had much of an interest in his solo stuff anyway so I think I'll give this one a miss too. Keep true to the last album by buying just the two tracks, most probably to also be deleted from my music library in the near future. Poltergeist on the other hand… I agree with the singer stuff. Would be great. Actually more the merrier. Eva Petersen. Certainly. I liked her stuff with The Little Flames. Bring on the Dancing Poltergeists ASAP.

So the songs that have been floating about for a week or two are better than the songs that you've heard just the once?

How about less drama queenery, and give it a few more listens before slating it?

Meteorites and Grapes piss all over anything they've done for a long, long time.

Disappointing. I was looking forward to this album after listening to 'Lovers on the run' and 'Market town' but, apart from those songs and maybe 'Constantinople' I'm afraid I found it rather boring. As others have said, it's just like a Mac solo album and I'm just not into Mac's solo stuff. When the CD arrives I'll probably just put it away somewhere and never play it. Not for me, I'm afraid, but I hope others enjoy it.

At the risk of damning with faint praise I have to say, on first listen, I don't mind it all and it's far better than the steaming turd that was The Fountain.
