"Their eleventh album proper, it ranks alongside seminal records like ‘Crocodiles,’ ‘Heaven Up Here,’ and ‘Ocean Rain’..."

Sorry but to utilize a quote from the Evergreen album:

not even close
No, nowhere near

turn down the keyboards or whatever big sound is, add more Will, not so bad, listnening over and over to snippets not bad, would it hurt them so bad to release a whole song for us to judge? some sound promising, maybe Will is in there more than than we hear, I HOPE

This.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Does IM think that by mentioning how favourable it sounds in comparison with the quality of the first 4 LPs it will somehow translate into massive sales? What planet is he on?
It wouldn't work if Mac was a slaphead would it.

The real question is Has Mac's singing improved? (not got any worse I mean)

Let's hold judgement till we've heard the songs all the way through.

As for live ones.

Lovers on the Run and Holy Moses will be played for certain. As for others who knows.

Here is how I look at it. I am not expecting anything close to what the first 4 albums were like. That band no longer exists. Apparently Mac and Will have reconciled that Mac will be the force of the Bunnymen going forward. Clearly Mac and Will have no interest in some sort of Glide/Poltergeist with Mac singing or trying to be a tight knit songwriting band. I think Mac writes decent songs on his own as evident in his first two solo albums and WAYGTDWYL. I make no secret of my love of WAYGTDWYL, it is a great sounding album despite all the drama that surrounds it.

In my opinion The Fountain and his last solo album sounded rushed, weak and one dimensional on all levels. Mac needs someone to polish things up and maybe say "no" every so often. So, I will take this album at face value and ask myself, it may not be the glory days but are they good songs, produced well? From these clips, I can at least hear some big sweeping sound and decent vocals.

And there's the rub, are they good songs? We'll know soon enough.

Either the reviews will moan about it being not like the first four albums or they will accept it for what it is.

Looks like it's, depending on your scoring system, going to be either a 3/5 or 6/7 out of 10 type of album.

Either it's pleasent or good, or dull and uninspiring.

I hope it's not "pleasant", I don't want a pleasant Bunnymen album. I'd rather it was a steaming turd than "pleasant".

I think that the opening credits to Heartbeat are the best way of describing something that is "pleasant"

Have to say, Constantinopel has grown on me. And the guitars on it is great, with an Eastern touch. Also Holy Moses sounds really good.
