Sounds OK
Bet there's nothing as good as In the Margins or Idolness of Gods though
It wouldn't work if Mac was a slaphead would it.

I guess if you don't mind Bunnymen circa 1997 or earlier Mac solo stuff, then it might be worth a spin. It's obviously still nowhere near the Bunnymen first four albums, despite the spin. I think though it is Youth that has done a good job with it, at least in terms of production. May even buy it when it's released properly for a bit of nostalgia to remind myself that I used to listen to their records and attend their gigs once.

It does have a big sound. I like these snippets better than anything off The Fountain. It actually sounds like some time was spent on this.

I'm afraid I wasn't very impressed at all from those snippets. It appears to be 100% Mac influenced, like we were dreading. That first one 'meteorites' even has the old 'down, down' thing that somebody was commenting on the other week. Oh dear. Maybe it will sound better in the full context.

i always get the down down deeper and down bit. sigh. i must be getting old, they all sound the same to me. no particular evidence of soaring sergentian guitars or even one note solos. but maybe its what the kids want. sigh. though i wait to be proven wrong mr brian please burn my fanboy membership card.

Not impressed at all, but sounds better than PPM.

Down Down. That was November weren't it?

Get the Sergentian guitar stuff from Poltergeist FC. I'm hoping that Will does more of that after this gig finishes, ideally with some guest vocalists on the next album.

I agree it does have a big sound but some of the snippets sound pretty mediocre, no surprise. A lot of it sounds like an extension off of Mac's last solo album. The last two songs sound like real stinkers. One thing that's weird is the constant repetition of one or two words on most of the choruses, that is going to get old real fast, it's like he's going for an anthem style song, maybe it's the vocal limitations effecting the songs. Sort of depressing overall since none of it sounds unexpected. Lovers on the Run sounds really good, I like the drums on it.

That's the new Elbow album, isn't it? I do like the snippet of guitar in Constantinople.

Is it just me or do the lyrics seem to mostly consist of Mac just repeating the title of the song?

The only one that stood out for me was Constantinople, the rest are all pretty similar and sad to say sound a bit mediocre. Still you can't judge an album just from a few song snippets I suppose.

what smiffy was on about just struck me when I was listening to that and reading the bits of info - what band has a press release saying who wrote the songs and who played on them - apart from some boy band who wants to get serious, by you know, writing their own stuff (thus sending their record company into paroxysms of fear) oo look at us we write our own songs. What a load of bollocks. - on the bright side it also points out that the dross is all mccullochs doing. Watch, he'll have a hit now and then I'll change my mind. lols. How old am I?

stalwarts? Wills a stalwart, bet he loves that.

More Mac and less Will spells less weird for me, I like weird though.

Listening as I'm typing this...

Oh dear oh dear. Like somebody pointed out already, he repeats the words in the title over and over. Yea I know it's just snippets, but still...

Yes, title of songs seem to be repeated a lot ......

Meteorites.... a bit Holy Grail ish could do without the down down down bit

Constantinople music sounds promising, so cold bit reminds me of Avalanche

New Horizons sounds boring from snippit

Quite like Holy Moses.... has a hook that has hooked me...

Is this a breakdown ..... repetitive so far

Grapes on the vine could be interesting.... like the line 'one for the money, two for the snow'

Lovers on the run sounds good

Burn it down sounds a bit dreary

Market Town sounds like something off Mysterio

Explosions sounds like one of the PPM songs

Hard to say what New Horizons is like from snippit as only says New Horizons over and over...

Actually, that bit of music on Constantinople is ace...
