Here is, for members of the press, some phrases that have to go in, some less accurate than others, for any forthcoming review, or not, of a future Bunnymen release.
1. Reference to longevity, include words like veteran, classic, popular in the 80's
2. If your readership is unfamiliar with the Bunnymen, include helpful lines such as; best known for their 1984 hit The Killing Moon
3. Get the year of the break up wrong, 1990.
4. Refer to McCulloch as Mac the Mouth
5. Have a stock photo of Mac and Will, or just Mac from a long time ago, they're not exactly going to come out and promote are they? And cut and paste is so cool.
6. Write about how some slightly noodly bits of guitar on track 5 evoke memories of their other hit, The Cutter.
7. Kind words about Mac's relaxed vocals, or savage criticism of Mac's strained singing!
8. Quote directly from McCulloch. "I'm really proud of the album, or the last track is the best I've written since ..." (note good song he'll mention The Killing Moon. Bad song Nothing Lasts Forever)
9. Do not ask for Will Sergeant's opinion on the new masterpiece: "it's all right I guess."
enjoy!
