UK tour with James

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

Still can't believe they are supporting bloody James. What happened to the coolest band on the planet? All we get now is a Christmas greatest hits in that academy dive, Farmer Giles's Turnip festival and a tour supporting the unbelievably boring James (ok, I liked 'come home' at the time).
No way on earth would I attend one of these gigs.

I'm giving up my Dec O2 ticket. Think it's time to do something else.

The opening band for Poltergeist is the Bunnymen's tour mgr guy's band - the tour mgr when P/P aren't allowed to come on board, want help for cheap, etc. And then they are trying to flog Eva Petersen with that load. Can not believe Will said she was the 'greatest singer to come out of Liverpool in the 21st century.' He must not get out much. My estimations of his ears and musical taste has completely gone downhill (and fast).

Add that in with the James thing.......the latest magazine to write about them is a TATTOO mag.......it's time to give it rest.

Would any of their peers have considered supporting James? Doubt it- imagine New Order doing that? No way.

It's a bad mistake by whoever made the decision. It makes them a laughing stock. oh dear.

What I can't get about this is that is this about Mac and Wills deteriorating relationship???think....easy to use someone's back line ,no need for mac to sound check ,...do they get paid?????

Compare the classic crocodiles, heaven up here, porcupine and ocean rain with err...stutter, strip-mine, gold mother and seven (got them from wikipedia).
It just doesn't make sense. Its like the beatles supporting the hollies.

Is there a problem with Mac and Will? If so, this James tour could be the last chance to see the bunnymen....I still wouldn't go, or if i did I would do the same as Dave with the Boo Radleys. It would be quite funny if the place was packed for the bunnymen and then everyone does one back to the pub for James.

I remember a lad who I used to knock around with a bit in the 90's. He was self-admitedly clueless about music. His favourite group.....James !!!

What's that James song that sounds like they're yodelling in it? Fucking awful.

Mac should be ashamed of himself.

I've just remembered - I have actually watched the bunnymen 'supporting' James in a kind of way. It was at the Corona Capital 2010 festival in Mexico. Interpol and the pixies were headlining with James in the number 3 slot and the bunnymen number 4. Needless to say I left after the bunnymen because I had no interest in James, the pixies or interpol. I could hear James screeching in the background as I was leaving.

It was a great performance by the bunnymen by the way, one of the best I have seen.

They obviously need the cash. No one in their right mind would sell out like that.

Tbh, I think James gets a way bigger crowd than the Bunnymen in current days. Maybe it's because they haven't f*cked up so much along the way?

You think that but the last two gigs the Bunnymen played in Brum were a packed out Symphony Hall and a sold out Academy which they now support James at!its all about not being arsed to tour themselves again .

You're right, they don't want the responsibility of things. Remember, it's mgmt pushing these ideas. No wonder Will wrote what he did in response to your post. There's no confidence. You can't be surprised really, look who's still at the helms of the titanic.

Hope they're saving their money for the future. Beer festivals, openings spots and a few one off gigs surely can't pay a years bills.

perhaps they are skint in a cant afford to put up the readies to back a tour kind of way, , so a piggy back tour fits the bill.
