Right.....saw them play in Wolvo the other week.....really good gig.The new drummer has arms like a hod carrier.Setlist then mainly old.Now had the album a week........I love it.Forget the terrace anthems,this is a brilliant angst ridden set of songs that takes time....but really there isnt a bad song on it and Dream,Dream,Dreaming is absolutely mega.Very 80's post punk production-World even has Killing Moon drone chords in it.

Ok-they are OTT but hey stick with them.And any band who can finish with your glaswegian Mom responding to a convict coming out of jail should be applauded."Now son....the monsters are goooooon"

Just listened to it in its full entirety. Really like The World Is Yours, the way it leads into the song from Pain Pain, Never Again... and Euphoria, Take My Hand as that sounds like something that would have been on the last album... erm, that's all.

Dream Dream Dreaming reminds me of Coldplay circa 2001 minus the whiny nasal type vocal - must be the percussion. A few tracks like that. There's even a 1980s power ballad-type song in Whatever Hurts You Through The Night. Doesn't fill me with the same joy to be honest. If I bought it, probably wouldn't get played fully again and that's no use.

Of course, I'll be doing that and I had listened to streamed bits of it a number of times for weeks leading up to the release - but there are very few stand-out tracks that leap out on first, second and third listen, other than those mentioned. Usually, I'll find those kind of tracks and then the other stuff falls into place quickly afterwards. "You" seems quite catchy and could be a grower, but the rest, sorry, I find it a bit dull and samey instrumentally. "Lots Sometimes" is a prime example. The lyric "Lots Sometimes" is repeated over and over and over again (seems to be more than 28 times) with no real change in the melody and it's seven minutes long as well.

"I Feel Wrong" reminds me of Chris de Burgh's Lady In Red for some reason. Funny actually, on the last album - even though it was a great song and fucking brilliant live - "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry" was Wham's Last Christmas in disguse.

Maybe my brief interest in Glasvegas has come to an end, but there are still a couple of excellent tracks on there. It's not too similar to how I felt listening to Interpol's last effort, unfortunately.

Great gig last night. We got probably about half of the new album and all the 'old' favourites including Go Square Go, Geraldine, Ice Cream Van, Flowers and Football Tops and Daddy's Gone. For me, the highlight was a storming Lots Sometimes which was the second of a three song encore.
When they supported the Bunnymen in 2008 they were quality though still pretty raw but over two years of touring has turned them into a superb live act. New drummer Jonna Lofgren is incredible (what is it about amazing female drummers these days? She and BRMCs Leah Shapiro are outstanding) and James Allan has that something magic that all great frontmen possess.

2 minutes into the first tune.....

and i was reaching for my ciggie lighter, by the end of the fourth one I'd run out of fuel and was looking for my spare. just got the first album a couple of weeks ago. All a bit anthemic isn't it, and here cdomes another soaring chorus. By the time it got to the one about being stabbed I was ready for a rest but found myself rolling about on the floor pissing myself. What's that about? I'd have to say I dont get it at all. Give it another try though. Sounds more U2 than buns.

Yeah - if you don't like anthems you won't like the two good songs (that somehow have me ignoring how mediocre to bad - the knif song) the rest is.
Geraldine and Daddy's Gone are great songs if you like anthems.

The new album loses what the band had going for it - his voice.

I wish I could laugh at the knife song - I cringe and fast forward - it is like he was going for "Down In A Tube Station At Midnight" Bob Dylan stule
